Established on a 300-hectare farm at the source of a mountain stream with spectacular views, Mountain Fly Fishing offers an ideal opportunity to get away from the stress of everyday life and unwind in a relaxed and beautiful environment. Known as The Land of Silver Mists, the beautiful Magoebaskloof-Haenertsburg area of the Limpopo Province is one of the country's best kept secrets. Nestled against the Wolkberg mountain range, the area is filled with indigenous and cultivated forests, grasslands and crystal clear mountain streams. Our establishment offers neat and cosy accommodation overlooking the serene trout waters. Our facilities are ideal for hiking, mountain biking, quad biking and bird watching, making it perfect for a family or group breakaway in the beautiful Magoebaskloof mountains. The Magoebaskloof area has a long association with trout, with the first fish being introduced into the Broederstroom River in 1904. For over 90 years brown trout, and later rainbow trout, have thrived in the ideal temperatures of this northern most part of the Drakensberg Mountain Range. Please note rates for children: one - five years old pay a fix rate of R95.00 and six - 12 years old pay a fixed rate of R188.00.

Little Carthage

Two chalets overlooking the Olifants River are offered as well as a pool and pool deck with braai facilities, and a lovely outdoor kitchen with an awesome view. We are set within the 1000 ha Ndlovumzi Nature Reserve with giraffe, zebra, kudu, nyala, warthog, eland, water buck, black-backed jackal and more, and there are crocodiles and hippos in the main stream of the Olifants. The adventurous can explore the island, potholes and waterfalls right in front of Little Carthage. The Loft Chalet sleeps four, with a queen-size bed downstairs and a loft bedroom with twin beds. There is a bathroom with a shower. The ladder to the loft is very steep and not suitable for very small children or older folk. There is a kitchenette with a medium fridge, a kettle, and basic cutlery and crockery. The Rondavel sleeps two and is a very basic but neat open-plan room. There is a queen-size bed and a bathroom with a shower that are separated only by a half wall. There is a small bar size fridge and a kettle, but cooking and catering needs to be done in the outside kitchen. It is not available to rent on its own, only for those hiring both the Loft Chalet and the Rondavel together. The pool deck is right on the river with a swimming pool, a braai area and an eight-seater table under shade. The open kitchen has a 10-seater table under thatch, a full size fridge-freezer, a gas oven and stove, a microwave and cutlery and crockery. It's a great getaway for people who love the bush, but please be prepared for the bush. There are geckos, lizards, spiders and the occasional snake, monkeys and baboons. We try not to kill anything except mosquitoes and flies, and so on. Please try and arrive while it is still light, as you have eight kilometers of dirt road and then three and a half kilometers of bush road to negotiate. You don't need a 4x4 but very low cars may battle. Power failures are rare but may happen and are beyond my control. We have a number of alternatives for lighting and cooking in the event of a power failure.
