    Umkomaas Reviews

If you are into diving you will be in heaven.
Umkomaas can best be described as a small drinking town in KZN with a huge diving problem! It's close enough to the bigger towns so you always have what you need, but you still get the feeling you have left the big cities behind.

    Chief's Cabin
Whenever in the Umkomaas area, make sure to visit the Chief's Cabin pub. Food is amazing and both food and drinks are truly inexpensive. Awesome swimming pool and trampoline to keep the kids busy all day while adults can play pool and and have a blast with friends. A couple of minutes walk to a stunning private beach. The owners however is what makes this place one in a million.Umkomaas is only 8 km from the most amazing swim beach and a great mall in Scottburgh.

    Umkomaas
Not very much. We did not know Umkomaas. It was just a pass through for us waiting for our reservation date in Glenmore.

    The land that time forgot
Surrounded by a golf course and sea views from every street corner Umkomaas is the gateway to the Durban South Coast and the launch site to the Aliwal Shoal. One of the top ten dive sites in the world. Never a dull moment as the friendly locals will welcome you with open arms. Don't be surprised though if you ask a question and the answer is replied in French, German or Italian as visitors flock here from around the world. Make sure you stop off at one of the towns restaurants for an enjoyable meal. Hope to welcome you soon.

    Friendly diving town
Umkomaas is a small town know for the famous Aliwal Shoal, hence the popularity in the diving community and the numerous diving companies. The beaches hold some interesting rock pools that's definitely worth exploring. The town's primary focus is on the diving community, but there are many activities situated close by for non-divers. The convenient location of the town removes your from the busy city life that Durban has to offer, but close enough to all major attractions.

    Umkomaas
Umkomaas or The river of the cow whale, is famous for its world renown diving on the Aliwal Shoal - listed by Jaques Cousteau as one of the top diving sites in the world. The village of Umkomaas is a small friendly place, scattered with Dive Chaters and our speciality shop - The Hope Shop which has the most exquisite holiday fashion and Trinkets.Umkomaas has a large Italian community who really were the first to establish the village, many functions including weddings are regularly hosted by The Italian Club.Umkomaas was in the past a whaling station and the female whales used to give birth...
