In the beautiful citrus and rose growing area of the Sundays River Valley, 25 minutes from the Addo Elephant Park, Dave and Judy Smith welcome you to their farm. Avoca, which means ' The meeting of the waters '. Ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers. Luxury fully-equipped chalets along the river. Sleeps two to five people. Four thatch and mud huts with two hot shower/toilets and a fully-equipped ' Lapa ' (Kitchen) alongside the river where there is an abundance of fish and birdlife. Plenty of scenic walks through the citrus orchards, and canoeing on the river , which is inclusive of the price. A path leads down from the lush garden to a small bush camp overlooking the river where two wooden cabins nestle in a sheltered clearing. We now have a new chalet on this site. They share a hot shower/toilet and a fully equipped 'Lapa'. The camp leads out onto a deck that looks out over the river and mountains. A great place for sundowners. We also have access to a private game lodge at R1400 per person per day, which includes dinner, drinks and breakfast and a night and morning game drive. The wildlife includes Lions, Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes and several Antelope Although our rates are per unit on the site we do welcome singles and couples to enquire about better options. Our self-catering units are not serviced, except by prior arrangement. Units not being serviced, except by arrangement. We also cater for backpackers.

We are situated 1km off the N2, 30 km from Port Elizabeth & 2km from the Southern Gate (Camp Matyholweni) of the Addo Elephant National Park, close to the Alexandria Dunes, and the village of Colchester, close to the beach and the mouth of the charming Sundays River Valley. Weather can change from hot in the day to cool in the evening - a warm jacket to be kept handy at all times. Swimming costume and sunblock essential. Long trousers for evenings. Warm jacket for boat cruises in Autumn and Winter, sometimes in Mid Summer. The East Cape weather is notoriously variable but the Sunshine Coast is so called as this area boasts the most sunshine hours in S.A. This is a malaria free area, where you can have exciting encounters with the 'Big 5'.You will be welcome in our secure and comfortable thatched cottages, surrounded by citrus groves, which we farm naturally - we have used no dangerous chemicals on the farm since 2000. We have 6 rooms, each with en suite bathrooms and tea/coffee making facilities. The rooms are big enough to squeeze in an extra bed or cot for your children.We grow and source as much food locally as what we can. Breakfasts are substantial, and include organic home baked bread, orange juice and preserves. It is also only a five-minute drive from the south entrance of the renowned Addo Elephant National Park. The Nightjar can comfortably accommodate up to four guests and comprises two bedrooms, a dining area and kitchenette and an under-cover entertainment area. The first bedroom contains twin three-quarter beds, a kitchenette and dining area, and a separate toilet and basin. The second bedroom contains a double bed. There is also a full bathroom with a free-standing bath, shower and toilet, and full DStv is available in both bedrooms. The furnished under-cover entertainment area includes a Jetmaster braai. Secure parking for two cars is also provided. The property is situated right on the river, with a private entrance to the river and private jetty. In addition, there is a restaurant and cafe within walking distance. Guest can enjoy exceptional fishing off the jetty as well as hire canoes, rowing- and motoristed boats.
