Karoo Life B and B is one of Calitzdorp's most historic houses. It was originally built by the town's blacksmith and carriage maker, Mr Blignault circa 1860 and retains many of the original features like beautiful yellow wood floors and doorframes. The house is situated on Queen Street that was, once upon a time, the town’s main road. We are within walking distance to all the dorps amenities, restaurants, wineries, galleries, churches and many others. There is very safe and secure off road parking, beautiful, lush established gardens, sparkling swimming pool and a deck to sit and enjoy the magnificent Klein Karoo sunsets while sipping a glass of one of Calitzdorps re-known wines. We have three garden rooms, luxuriously appointed in modern ethnic design all en-suite with ceiling and standing fans and tea and coffee making facilities. There is also DSTV on the patio for our guests and a lovely dining room where our sumptuous breakfasts are served. Olyfenbosch Cottages are two charming historic cottages situated on a working wine farm at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains overlooking vineyards, with stunning views beyond. The cottages are close to mountain trails and nature reserves and activities on the farm include hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, swimming, and fishing in the dams. Hartbeeshuis is a quaint renovated house comprising two luxury en-suite bedrooms, an open-plan lounge and dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. Part of this building dates back to the mid-1800s and the unit also features three verandah areas for entertainment, one with built-in barbecue facilities. J's Cottage is a converted wine cellar. This Victorian cottage is set under oaks and comprises two bedrooms, both with inside shutters. Both bedrooms share a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower and Victorian bath. Please note we don't have cellphone reception on the farm, you need to go 500 m down the road to get reception.

Just the right recipe for recovering from a hectic life. We offer a self-catering cabin (3m X 6m) with four beds (2 pairs of stacked single bunks) and cooking nook stocked with utensils and crockery. Separate ablution facilities with hot water (2 x flush toilets, shower, hand basin, sink). No electricity, but gas lights, gas stove, gas hot water geyser. Cleaning agents. Barbecue and grid. Wood for sale. It is preferable to have a high ground clearance vehicle (not necessarily 4 x 4). Bring with you: food (one gets hungry in the woods) bedding, towels, bathing costumes, hiking shoes, warm clothes in case of bad weather, mountain bike, and a book to read. We have limited cell phone reception. The cabin is nestled in the Langeberg mountains 10 km outside Robertson (nearest shops) and approx. 180 km north-east of Cape Town. A map and directions will be provided when you book. Rental vehicles are available at Cape Town International airport. We’re looking forward to meeting you.

William and Karin welcome you to Keisie Cottages, cosy farm holiday self-catering mountain cottages on a beautiful fruit and wine farm in the Keisie Valley, 20 km outside of Montagu. Our farm is just below the world famous tractor ride on Protea Farm. Keisie means Pretty Water in San, and the Keisie Valley is renowned for the flavour and quality of its fruits and wines. The farm is called Vredendal, which means Peace in the Valley and it certainly is very peaceful here. We grow grapes, apricots, peaches, quinces and gooseberries and in season you can pick and eat straight from the trees, or watch us harvesting. We have a lovely swimming pool with a wooden deck and gazebo, surrounded by two hectares of roses . Stroll around our herb garden and help yourself to herbs for your salad or potjiekos. Try our home made jams. A real farm stay close enough to Montagu to enjoy the Hot Springs and wine routes and wonderful restaurants that Montagu has to offer, as well. There are lovely hikes, including a lovely hike to our rock pools (very rough) and paths that can be used for mountain biking. The mountain views are stunning. We have three charming restored farm cottages, next to each other, and one larger Gooseberry house which is great for bigger families and very private. Each cottage is a quaint, cosy environment with a traditional fireplace to ward off those chilly Cape winter nights. All linen provided. The Keisie Valley is the perfect retreat. There is no cell phone reception and there are no TVs in the cottages. Towels are provided. Your chance to introduce your kids to the real world. They can hike, bike, or just play outside!

The house still has some of the original architectural features in the form of old reed ceilings and oregan pine doors. The house is now simply furnished with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is fully equipped for self-catering and offers basic supplies such as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with feather duvets and cotton linen. Towels are provided. There is an outside courtyard, with shade in summer provided by a large old grapevine. The front stoep has a wonderful view over the town and into the Karoo. The house is walking distance from restaurants and shops. The back yard has a herb garden and fruit trees.

Come and experience one of the world's most unique arid zones and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Karoo - rest, relax, refresh and recharge your batteries. Assendelft Lodge is the ideal overnight stop for long distance travelers. It offers four elegantly decorated double, air-conditioned bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Each room has its own private entrance with an outside patio where you can sit and enjoy a drink while you take in the surroundings of the Karoo or do some star watching at night. You can snuggle up in front of the fire in the cozy lounge during winter evenings or enjoy a meal in front of the fire place in the dining room. If you enjoy being close to nature our tented chalets at the Bush Camp are for you. Each chalet has its own braai area and for larger groups, a communal braai area is available where you can sit around the campfire, under the stars at night. Wood is available from the lodge for making a fire or enjoy a braai. Lights in the chalets are solar powered and hot water is generated by a traditional hot water “donkey”, there are no other electricity available. Each tented chalet accommodates one to four guests in single beds or double beds and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Linen and towels are provided. Coffee and tea are also provided in the chalets with a small gas stove. The communal kitchen is well equipped with cooking and braai utensils as well as a gas fridge, freezer and oven. Both the Lodge and Bush Camp are fully licensed. Some nearby attractions include relaxing and enjoying the Karoo, wander around the farm, visit the lonely grave of a British soldier, Pte. W Calver of the 16th Lancers, who died on Sep. 10, 1901. Go on the fossil trail and see for yourself where the therocephalians ("beast-heads") diictodons and Pristerognathu lived 265 million years ago. Therocephalians are an extinct suborder of carnivorous eutheriodont therapsids that lived from the middle and late Permian into the Triassic 265.0—245.0 Ma, existing for approximately 20 million years – a guided tour can be arranged or go for a braai with your partner at one of the picnic spots next to the Vlakkraal river. Assendelft Lodge and Bush Camp is also the ideal place from where to explore the quaint little town of Prince Albert (45km) where you can visit the smallest wine estate in Africa, fig and olive farms and various other attractions. Take a drive over the majestic Swartberg Mountain Pass (48km) and visit the isolated wilderness area, known as "Die Hel" (Gamkaskloof), a mere 59 km away or Meirings Poort, with its breathtaking scenery - an hour's drive from the lodge and the world renowned Kango Caves only 98 km away. The Karoo National Park, also only an hour's drive away or start exploring the Karoo Highlands route which covers small Karoo towns such as Matjiesfontein, Sutherland, Fraserburg, Williston, Carnarvon, Loxton, Victoria West and Beaufort West.
