Interesting changes
After the floods in October 2012, the flood relieve funds are being put to very good use. Many roads are undergoing complete reconstruction with new paved parking areas being added. Infrastructure, such as water and sewage systems are all being upgraded. Port Alfred remains on of the most friendly towns to visit and can still boost of the most Sunshine Hours in Southern Africa. The idea place to holiday and to live.

Port Alfred a small town with heart
This town offers visitors a glimpse into life run at a slow pace; so arrive without intentions of speeding from one end to the other – there is no destination too far to explore.Residents include a fair amount of German and British folk who have retired here, and from here they travel to see family around the world. We have many "swallows" that follow the summer. Miles of beaches invite folk to play, run, walk, search for treasures or do nothing - let your stress dissipate while the music of the sea lulls you into a restful mode. Sunset picnics are a great way to enjoy the summer 's evenings.P...

Kowie Race
We stayed in Port Alfred for one night as we were doing the Kowie Race on the Saturday. It's a nice town with a beautiful small harbour and awesome river views. The roads needs attention. The Race itself could have been better attended and it is a pity, since it really was well organized and on a very scenic route. Perhaps a little more promotion would help as the Port Alfred area is well worth a visit.

Location Port Alfred
Port Alfred has the most sunshine hours in South Africa, wonderful temperate climate, endless beaches as well as the magnificent Kowie River, which flows into the warm Indian Ocean. It is very popular among water sport enthusiasts for swimming, surfing, boating, water-skiing and scuba diving. The town has a picturesque boat harbour, residential marina and first class golfing and angling. Port Alfred offers many restaurants and select shopping - from modern centres to little shops showcasing the vibrant local art and craft industry. The surrounding countryside has thousands hectares of malaria-...
