Oryx Bed and Breakfast is a bed and breakfast establishment offering comfortable accommodation at affordable rates and ideally located in Walvis Bay. Walvis Bay, which means ‘Whale Bay’ in Afrikaans, is named after the bay on which it lies. The bay is a haven for sea vessels because of its natural deep water harbour. Being rich in plankton and marine life, these waters also drew large numbers of whales, attracting whalers and fishing vessels. The town is situated just north of the Tropic of Capricorn in the Kuiseb River delta and lies at the end of the TransNamib Railway to Windhoek, and on the B2 road. Accommodation is offered in double rooms, some of which are en-suite. A mouthwatering breakfast is available and guests will have access to wireless internet and braai facilities. Secure on-site parking is also provided. Other attractions include the artificial Bird Island, centre of a guano collection industry, the Dune 7 sand dune, birdlife and a museum.
