Description

You enter the Namaqualand wonderland approximately 5 hours drive north of Cape Town. The annual transformation of this semi-desert wilderness is a wonder of the world not to be missed.

Evidence of the spring flowers begins even in Cape Town on your drive out, and progresses as you drive North along the N7. The wild flower route includes the Richtersveld National Park, Goegap Nature Reserve, and Skilpad Wild Flower Reserve.

Thousands of seed varieties lie dormant, awaiting germination, then bursting forth between July and October for both tourists and locals delight and absolute pleasure.

Standing amongst the world famous Namaqualand spring flowers is a breathtaking experience you will never forget, likened to being inside an artists flamboyant palette.

While you are there, take the opportunity to try angling at the Olifants River and Clanwilliam Dam, well-known for smallmouth bass, yellowfish and largemouth bass.

The Clanwilliam Dam itself offers ideal opportunities for boating, canoeing, waterskiing, yachting and powerboating. Pack a picnic, and make a day of it with the family that they will never forget.

The Cedarberg has idyllic pools, a godsend on a hot day. The Olifants River also offers swimming opportunities throughout its course.
