Everyone who comes to our house takes pictures of the animals, birds, the landscape and the house. If you are looking for relaxation and enjoyment of nature with all the comforts of home, Reverie Safari Lodge is the place for you. Decorated with pieces from all over Africa, the house is finished in warm colors and furnished with an eclectic collection of antiques and modern furnishings, including an iron stove converted to electricity, air-conditioners in the bedrooms and the best mattresses available for a good night’s sleep. There are two bedrooms, a loft with an additional bed and two full bathrooms. And like all other houses in Marloth Park, we are close to the Kruger National Park and we have regular animal visitors such as kudu, zebra, warthogs, monkeys and giraffes, while hundreds of birds make their home in all of the trees surrounding the house. We are located within a stone’s throw of Lionspruit which is the private game reserve for Marloth Park and home to four of the Big 5. The house rests between an open plain of parkland where animals come to graze or drink at our pond and a summer river with its special riverine biosphere. The house is surrounded by large shade trees, keeping it cool and providing plenty of privacy. Decks at the front and rear extend the house into the outdoors and an outdoor shower allows you to fully enjoy nature.

Two chalets overlooking the Olifants River are offered as well as a pool and pool deck with braai facilities, and a lovely outdoor kitchen with an awesome view. We are set within the 1000 ha Ndlovumzi Nature Reserve with giraffe, zebra, kudu, nyala, warthog, eland, water buck, black-backed jackal and more, and there are crocodiles and hippos in the main stream of the Olifants. The adventurous can explore the island, potholes and waterfalls right in front of Little Carthage. The Loft Chalet sleeps four, with a queen-size bed downstairs and a loft bedroom with twin beds. There is a bathroom with a shower. The ladder to the loft is very steep and not suitable for very small children or older folk. There is a kitchenette with a medium fridge, a kettle, and basic cutlery and crockery. The Rondavel sleeps two and is a very basic but neat open-plan room. There is a queen-size bed and a bathroom with a shower that are separated only by a half wall. There is a small bar size fridge and a kettle, but cooking and catering needs to be done in the outside kitchen. It is not available to rent on its own, only for those hiring both the Loft Chalet and the Rondavel together. The pool deck is right on the river with a swimming pool, a braai area and an eight-seater table under shade. The open kitchen has a 10-seater table under thatch, a full size fridge-freezer, a gas oven and stove, a microwave and cutlery and crockery. It's a great getaway for people who love the bush, but please be prepared for the bush. There are geckos, lizards, spiders and the occasional snake, monkeys and baboons. We try not to kill anything except mosquitoes and flies, and so on. Please try and arrive while it is still light, as you have eight kilometers of dirt road and then three and a half kilometers of bush road to negotiate. You don't need a 4x4 but very low cars may battle. Power failures are rare but may happen and are beyond my control. We have a number of alternatives for lighting and cooking in the event of a power failure.
