At Nanzhila Plains Camp we offer Africa in its true unrefined beauty. Vast and spacious, you will never see another vehicle on a game drive because your nearest neighbours are three hours away. Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp is a new development located on the site of the old Nanzhila Rest Camp built in the late 1950's, in the remote and seldom visited southern sector of Kafue National Park. The area is best known for its lush woodlands of Miombo, Zambezi Teak and Mopane and the beautiful plains and the stream that runs through it, after which our lodge is named. Nanzhila Plains offers excellent opportunities to see populations of a number of antelope species, including Roan and Sable, Reedbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Oribi, Hartebeest and Eland as well as all the major carnivores, with a particularly strong population of Wild Dog and Cheetah. The bird life is phenomenal throughout the year. The raised, thatched boma is situated under the shade of a huge Jackelberry Tree. It houses the lounge and dining area, bar and verandah, with a stunning and elevated view of the dambo. Our communal open-air fireplace is where guests can enjoy a warm fire, a cold drink, good fellowship and the sounds of the African night. Currently the lodge is able to accommodate up to six guests in three well-appointed thatch cottages. The cottages are spacious, have en-suite facilities with hot showers and toilets and have been tastefully decorated. We also have three en-suite safari tents that can accommodate up to six people.

Furnished in a colonial style, the Konkamoya Lodge offers four apartment size tents with lake views that offer fellow explorers a close up encounter with nature. Not forgetting the comforts of modern living, the tents are safely aloft a deck, ensuring any unwelcome guests don’t pay a visit. Activities include open-air game drives in comfortable vehicles conducted by a qualified guide, while night drives leave camp in the afternoon for a game drive followed by a sundowner, and then continue into the night for an unforgettable experience. For the energetic, walking safaris are by far the best way to see the bush. Learn about tracking, see the exciting life of insects and other small mammals or come up close to a herd of elephants. All walks are taken by a qualified guide and armed game scout.

Mayukuyuku Camp is one of those places that just feels right. The camp is located on the southern edge of the Northern Sector of Kafue National Park, just 8 km from the Mongu road, giving it year-round access. The large shady trees, the river boulders and rock formations make relaxing days all the more enjoyable, especially lying in a hammock with sundowners in hand. But the area is rich in wildlife, so game viewing is a major attraction. The guestbook is brimming with sightings, especially lions and leopards, with regular views of wild dog too, and excellent birding. Part Zambian owned, Mayukuyuku has adopted an eco-friendly, community focused approach to tourism, to considerable success. With just four tents, it has just the right mix of rustic charm, fabulous hospitality and exclusivity to make a stay here really special. Situated close to the banks of the Kafue River, alongside a lightly wooded treeline, Mayukuyuku has magnificent views, both up and downstream.

In the middle of the African bush, McBride's Camp is one of the best places to stay in Kafue. Chris and Charlotte’s passion are lions, and Chris has written three books about them. If lions are heard during the night, you can take the opportunity to track them early the following morning. Our traditionally chalets are built almost entirely of natural materials available in the area. The camp has eight thatched chalets with en-suite bathrooms and an open dining room with spectacular views over the Kafue River. We also offer five campsites for guests on safari. The setting is tranquil, remote and rustic. The camp has a bar licence. However, visitors may bring their own alcohol/carbonated drinks for which there is no corkage charge. Guests are welcome to spend a couple of nights in our Bush Camp to experience nature just as the early explorers did.
