The hotel has suites with views of the beach or the lush mangrove in the gardens. There is a Presidential Suite, providing a more spacious room. All of the suites have double beds with en-suite bathrooms offering both baths and showers. The suites have TVs and tea and coffee facilities to ensure the comfort of the guests, as well as air-conditioning for the hot summer months. The hotel has large swimming pool where guests can cool off if they do not feel like a dip in the ocean. There is also a lounge and a veranda where guests are able to relax and unwind. Sylvia Shoal is set amongst tropical coconut palms and sheltered by indigenous bush, offering guests both campsites and self-catering chalets. The resort’s self-catering chalets contain comfortable beds, a small kitchenette and dining area, as well as a shower, basin, toilet and gas geyser. Room facilities include mosquito nets, bed linen and bath towels. The chalets are within a very easy walk to the beach and restaurant which is right on the beach. Our campsites are lovely, shaded and grassed. The squeaky clean ablutions offer flash toilets, showers and are equipped with gas geysers. Power is generated for 12 continuous hours per day, normally from 12h00 till 24h00. We pride ourselves on the fact that we do not overcrowd our beautiful site and all the campsites are within an easy stroll to the beach and the restaurant which is right on the beach. Each trip can be tailor made on request. The 1000 kilometre trip from Johannesburg to Inhambane is a 12-hour scenic bus journey with an overnight stop at Xai-Xai. Areia Branca Lodge is situated on a pristine beach with the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. It is 485 km north of Maputo and access is on tarred roads until the last 7 km leading to the lodge, which is gravel. We have 17 Chalets that are fully equipped with the necessary equipment. Each Chalet has two bedrooms; the one bedroom had a double bed, the second bedroom has twin beds and there are twin beds in the lounge. The bathroom has a shower and there is an open-plan kitchen and living area. Electricity is supplied 24 hours by EDM with a backup generator. The units are not serviced but cleaners can be hired at the lodge. We also have 15 Campsites that all have power points and ablution facilities. Areia Branca is a secluded, unspoilt beach bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other. The warm waters offer safe bathing and smooth and easy boat launching. Fishing grounds and diving reefs are nearby and the largely unexplored reefs offer endless pleasures for divers and snorkelers. The lodge is nestled amongst the coconut groves and has a wonderful beach. There are many actives to be enjoyed within the area such as scuba diving, catamaran yacht charter, boat fishing and sightseeing the Inhambane is steeped in history. This was the southerly most trading port in Africa used by the Arabs. Go horse riding where you can take a guided horse ride on the beach offering a once in a lifetime experience. Quad bike through the coconut plantations which opens new vistas and following the tracks and paths through these areas allows one to experience the real Mozambique. Take a trip on a dhow and feel a great sense of history as the dhows are still built as they were in ancient times. This is something that must be experienced before this age old tradition dies out.

Ngulane Lodge is situated in Massinga, in the province of Inhambane in Mozambique. We are situated on a beautiful stretch of beach in this unpopulated area. The lodge has seven beautiful chalets. The rooms have solar heating for the showers; however there is only generator power from 6 am to 10 pm. All of the rooms have oil lamps for after hours and we burn citronella oil which also helps for mosquitos. The chalets are not self-catering; instead you have a cook at your disposal that will prepare the food you have brought with you, the way you want it prepared. Sit back and relax while your food gets prepared and your dishes are cleaned for you. There are shops and markets in Maxixe which is 50 km to the south and in Messinga which is 20 km to the north. Our sign is about 3 km from the Tropic of Capricorn sign on the main N11 to Beira.

All the units of Makolobay have electricity, warm and cold water, as well as verandas with sea views. Outside showers are also available. All the rooms have double beds, fans and mosquito nets and some units have single beds in the lounge area, without fans. Linen is provided but guests have to bring their own bath and swimming towels. Braai or gas braai facilities are available to all units. The warm waters are safe to swim in and the wide open, sun-drenched beaches offer endless hours of strolling pleasure. Out to sea, the nearby reef is home to hundreds of fish species including the manta ray and the whale shark. Fishing and diving enthusiasts may hire boats from the nearby Tofo village, while surfers share the surf with bottlenose dolphins. For shopping, you can visit the nearby town of Inhambane where there are some excellent but fairly basic shops, as well as a good number of cafés and restaurants. This is a truly excellent destination in which to relax and get away from the bustle of city life.

There are six houses in total. Each house comprises of four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large open-plan kitchen and living area. The living area has folding glass doors leading onto a deck and plunge pool which overlook the sea. Each house has been tastefully furnished and comes fully equipped, including linen. All bedrooms have air-conditioning. The houses are supplied with gas and are serviced daily. There is a manager on site if any assistance is required. The reef at Ngumula is amazing at low tide, where deep pools are formed and one can just float and lose yourself. At high tide boogie boarding and swimming is a great experience, as well as fishing off the beach. The resort offers an airport collection service. Don’t miss out on the whale season at Ngumula, where you can escape the winter chill and take advantage of the winter specials. Enjoy sitting on the deck in mid-winter where the temperatures are warm and watch the “Whale Highway”. There are so many whales at this time of the year, and one can be entertained all day as they are very active. If you want to get even closer, go on a sea safari and observe the whales from a dive boat. Not only will you see whales, but other sea life as well. From June to November is whale season, and a perfect time to visit Mozambique.

Guests will be greeted by a stunning 180-degree ocean view and a warm smile from our friendly staff on arrival. Guests have a choice of staying in one of five self-catering homes; Beluga, Blue Whale, Humpback, Orca and Whaleshark. Four of the houses have four bedrooms, while Whaleshark only has three bedrooms and the rooms are furnished with queen-size and single beds. Linen is provided and all the bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans and mosquito nets. All the houses, except for Whaleshark, have two bathrooms that consist of showers only. Each kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, a fridge, freezer, microwave, cutlery and crockery. Guests can enjoy their meals in the open-plan lounge and dining room which has seating for six or eight guests, depending on the house. Each house also has a deck or a patio with a barbecue area. This chalet is attractively appointed and boasts natural materials; reed walls with a grass-thatched roof. It has three bedrooms accommodating up to six guests with single or queen-size beds surrounded by large mosquito nets. The bathroom is spacious with a shower, a toilet and a basin. Cotton towels and cotton bedding are supplied. The kitchen is stocked with cutlery and crockery, pots and pans and more. It also has a solar-operated fridge and a deep freeze; Steca 166 litres each. The cooker is gas with three plates and an oven. The dining area features locally made tables and chairs, and the lounges have comfortable cushion-covered couches where one can relax with a book. Also included are camp chairs, shady brachystegia trees, bird calls, clean air and no traffic noises or sirens. Please note that although the chalet is solar powered, it is advisable to bring some petrol with for cloudy days to run the generator. Some petrol will also be required to run the water pump. For a short stay, 10 litres is sufficient. Please also note that the stove is run off gas. Gas and fuel can be supplied by prior arrangement.

Daghatane Beach Estate is situated just south of the town of Inhambane in Mozambique, overlooking some of the finest coastline in Africa. Accommodation at each of the beach lodges incorporates, as a minimum, four luxurious bedroom chalets connected to a central entertainment area consisting of open-plan living and entertainment areas. The lodges have been constructed using a fusion of Balinese, East African and contemporary design with a view to create exclusive accommodation which is uncompromising in every detail, while remaining conducive to beach living. The estate offers superb self-catering accommodations in one of its four lodges. Units can be rented as a minimum of lodge plus one chalet, but up to four chalets accommodating a maximum of eight adults and up to six children at each completed lodge. Access to Taurus supermarket with good local and South African produce is just minutes up the road, and dive centre facilities and local restaurants are available just a few kilometres up the beach.
