Bonwa Phala is a 5000 hectare nature reserve which offers a pristine, diverse and unique destination in the Bela Bela district of the Limpopo Province. The weather is warm almost all year round and Bonwa Phala is a true home for lovers of nature and the African bush. It is under two hours’ drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria and due to the location of the main lodge it offers absolute privacy. Although wildlife safaris are our major attraction, Bonwa Phala also offers on-site conferencing, a host of adventure activities and world-class golf excursions at Zebula Golf Estate and Spa, all within ten minutes’ drive of the reserve. Bonwa Phala exclusive accommodation comprises of a Main Lodge with ten chalets and a Tented Camp with five tents, guaranteeing guests their privacy and solitude. The Main Lodge's ten open-plan chalets all feature en-suite bathrooms. Guests can choose between double and family size chalets. All chalets have their own patio and are conveniently situated near to the main complex. The thatched, central main complex consists of an indoor dining area, an informal lounge area with DStv, and a cosy covered bar area that opens up onto an intimate open-air, rustic boma. Guests have the option of eating outside at the fire or retreating into the indoor dining area. There is an outdoor pool with a covered shelter next to it for those who love relaxing around the pool but don't want to expose themselves to the sun’s rays for too long. Early morning and sunset game drives as well as guided bush walks are offered on a daily basis, but must be pre-booked. Detailed information is available on request and bush braais can be organised by prior arrangement. Resident guests at Bonwa Phala have access to the superb 5 Star Zebula Golf Estate and Spa which is about a 10-minute drive from Bonwa Phala. Zebula offer a variety of activities such as golf, quad-bike safaris, archery, clay-pigeon shooting, fishing, horse safaris, spa treatments, restaurants, a convenience store, a signature design mountain bike course, and much more. The Shingwedzi Wild Dog and Cheetah Breeding Centre is about 30 km away and offers a unique opportunity to experience cheetahs and wild dogs up close.

Each room has a private pergola covered patio and most rooms are equipped with private outdoor bush showers. It is necessary to book for a visit to the Mabalingwe Lion Enclosure Wednesdays and Sundays at nine am. The cost is R 145 per person, including transport to the lion camp from Itaga Lodge. Resident guests at Itaga Lodge have access to the superb Zebula Country Club and Spa, located about 30 minutes’ drive from the lodge. Ant’s Hill is hosted by wonderful staff that creates an open and friendly atmosphere. Built by Ant and Tessa on the edge of a cliff, this bush home offers breath-taking views across the Waterberg. With spacious rooms and vast folding doors, the thatched lodge blends into the bush while the exotic furniture and brightly coloured African fabrics make it both sophisticated and comfortable. The draped four-poster beds are seven foot wide and each bathroom is spectacular, offering guests sunken baths and waterfall showers. Set in boulders on the edge of the cliff, the swimming pool cascades over the lip of the gorge (also heated), inducing you to relax there for hours. Ant’s Hill caters for a maximum of 12 guests and is booked on a non-exclusive basis; however, should you wish to book the lodge on an exclusive basis this can be done. Ant’s Hill offer the opportunity for some of the greatest game viewing in the African bush – from horseback. You can canter along open sandy tracks or transverse high ridges with spectacular vistas. The pace can be as fast or relaxed as the rider would like. When you come across game you can often get so close the experience is unforgettable. We have fit, reliable and responsive horses, providing a choice for both the professional rider and the absolute beginner (you do not need to have riding experience to ride with us). The herd of 70 horses is made up of big thoroughbreds and Arab-boerperd crosses and includes some fabulous children’s ponies. We use comfortable Maclelan saddles and have English saddles available. Rides are led by two competent guides and the emphasis is on safety at all times. We therefore advise all guests to wear protective head gear whilst out riding. For the enthusiastic rider, you may wish to ride twice daily and turn your trip into a luxury riding safari, alternatively for the less eager; riding can be one of the many activities you can enjoy. Many guests learn to ride here. It is compulsory for all clients to wear head protection gear whilst riding. Should clients not have their own riding hats to bring with them, we do have a selection of various sizes at both lodges Guided bush walks: For those who prefer walking, our guides will guide you through the bushveld on foot. These walks are informative and interactive, enabling guests to gain knowledge of the flora, fauna and animals resident on the reserves. Learning to recognize tracks is great fun. Whilst these walks can be in the form of a gentle stroll, the more energetic can hike over the plains and down impressive gorges. Game drives: Our guides will be available to take you out in an open 4x4 Landcruiser either for a morning or afternoon game drive or using a spotlight at night to find elusive nocturnal animals, such as the rare brown hyena, aardvark and porcupine. Children: Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill will give your children a life-changing experience. Special activities are laid on for children and teenagers who enjoy getting involved in the running of a game reserve. Children of all ages can join their parents on all activities or can alternatively be taken out separately. Elephant Safaris: This activity allows you the opportunity to interact and ride with the amazing African Elephants. It is an educational and enjoyable experience. This is followed by a ride through the bush on Elephant back together with an experienced Elephant handler. We go to a historic thatched church on Sundays where you can meet local people and see the 1914 building designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Children can attend a colorful Sunday school where the Sotho children sing choruses in rousing harmony. We are happy to take you shopping in the local town where you will find a wide variety of local and African arts and crafts. Wining and Dining: We take great pride in our sumptuous home cooking, dining outside whenever possible under shady trees. Nestled deep in the heart of the Waterberg Biosphere you will find a huge variety of fauna, flora, rivers and springs. An abundance of bird life and game can be seen. You are in nearest contact to nature. The very cosy bush lodge is fully equipped for all your needs and is available as a self catering option. You can spend your time in total privacy as we book in only one group at a time. The lodge is built in a circle, focusing a 1500 years old fig tree. If you are lucky, you can hear the jackals in the evening. The bush lodge is built with nature stones and has got thatched roofs. Each chalet has got two beds and an en suit bathroom. The chalets are nicely furnished and there is electricity. We provide towels, linen, and fire wood. There is a stove/oven, fridge/freezer, etc. as well as a barbecue place. Small pets are allowed. If you book the lodge the 3000 hectare is exclusively yours. The self-catering bush lodge is nine kilometres from the main lodge. You won`t find a destination which is more private and quiet. The stylish main lodge with the thatched river song cottage can be booked as a self-catering option as well. There is an open air kitchen but is mainly fully catered. There is a shooting range, a pool, gym facilities, bar facility and a spot for game watching. The main lodge has got Wi-Fi. You can use 60 kilometres of roads on the farm with your own vehicle but you can also book a game drive in an open Landrover. Enjoy the day activities and at night share stories around the fire. Activities include clay target shooting, pistol shooting at our shooting range, walking, guided biking, motor biking, quad biking; with your own equipment, game drives, etc. Our establishment does not offer a spa, a bar or entertainment of that nature. Our establishment is great for nature lovers. The gravel roads are in good condition now, but a car with ground clearance is recommended. Please note that the entire area is covered all over with MTN cell reception only.

Anro Safaris is set on Farm Slangfontein, and is located in Waterberge, Limpopo. The area is rich in varied vegetation and is home to many different bird species and animals. The chalets are fully fitted with all amenities including, fridges, freezers, TVs. In addition to the normal bathrooms, each chalet also has a delightful open-air shower. Bedding and towels are provided, and the chalets are serviced daily. In addition to the normal kitchen, the chalets also have outside cooking facilities for barbecues and campfires. There is a DStv decoder however guests would need to bring along their own smart card. Whether you like to watch the birds and animals congregate at the watering holes from one of our hides, or prefer to do some cooling off yourself in one of our crystal clear pools, there is something to do for everyone. Since our swimming pools are surrounded by pristine bush, you might well be able to see some wildlife and lounge by the pool at the same time.

Bushwa Game Lodge is situated on 1000ha in the beautiful province of Limpopo in the heart of the Waterberg biosphere; the ideal stop over on route to Botswana. Offering an unique African experience, the lodge is home to a large variety of game including giraffe, eland, kudu, red hartbeest and njala. The lodge offers guests a variety of accommodation, one of which is the 20 sleeper Bush-camp Lodge which has five rooms, two tented chalets and a loft room. The Tree House offers comfortable accommodation for two while each of the Luxury Safari Style Tents sleep four guests. The Deluxe Spa Room is ideal for two guests. The rates include breakfast, high tea, dinner and two game drives per day. Lunch can be ordered at an additional cost and high tea is served at 14:30. Bushwa Game Lodge have big trees with hammocks so that guests can relax and around the pool as well as a wooden deck and outside bar. Conference facilities are also available. Guests can enjoy various activities such as game Drives by qualified game drives, clay pigeon shooting and target shooting. We also have a spa on the premises.

Segodi Game Lodge is a pristine lodge set on a 1000-hectare fully fenced game farm deep in the savannah bushveld of Africa. The farm is conveniently located between Thabazimbi and Ellisras, approximately 300 km from Johannesburg and Pretoria. In this unique piece of untamed bushveld, you can spot a wide range of game species including steenbok, giraffe, common duiker, bushbuck, warthog, impala, blesbok, red hartebeest, kudu, zebra, leopard, cheetah, and brown hyena among others. This area also offers prolific bird life, with more than 200 recorder bird species, making it a bird lover’s paradise. Segodi Game Lodge has an informal, relaxed, colonial ‘Out of Africa’ atmosphere, and offers guests a spacious lounge and dining room with comfortable sofas, the ideal place to relax and watch TV. There is an adjacent well-stocked thatched bar overlooking a garden and pool area, as well as a solidly built sun-dappled boma which is used for dinner. Accommodation is offered in private, luxury chalets, each with its own en-suite bathroom, walk-in cupboard, and veranda. Room facilities include fans, mosquito nets on the windows, and mosquito repellent. The chalets are serviced daily. The lodge veranda has an extensive reading library. The small swimming pool, set in the lush garden, is the ideal place for reading, taking a cool dip, or just lounging around. Guests can take part in game drives, or guided bush walks, and then afterwards enjoy a glass of wine, beer, or another beverage. Main Facilities: Our main facilities include two lounges, pool, indoor and outdoor dining areas set on a huge wooden patio with magnificent views. Bedrooms: Unwind in the comfort of a double room with bathroom en-suite, indoor and private outdoor shower, a secluded balcony area with breathtaking African views. Game Drives: Qualified Game rangers will take you out in our open game viewing vehicles to entertain you with their knowledge and experience of the bush. Meals: All meals are prepared by our gourmet chef for a delightful culinary experience. Please note: Pick up at the Welgevonden Main Gate is at 12h30. No private vehicles allowed in the reserve.
