Winterton is just not a town, but a region with its own culture. A little like the winelands in the Cape. There are the magnificent Drakensburg mountains as a backdrop to a plethora of other interests in the area. The Winterton area is steeped in South African History for the buffs that want to see the battles that occurred during the Boer/English/Zulu wars. There is also the magnificent Drakensburg Escarpment that carries its own history of the SAN people. The area is a National Heritage site and a sanctuary for many protected birds of prey. In addition to all of this, the Winterton cove, promises to be a shoppers delight. Incredible leather items, hand woven carpets and candles to mention a few. Visit the area for an incredible escape. And no, not just only when it snows!

Winterton lies on the foothills of our majestic Central Drakensberg, the gateway to many nature lover's activities. The well known Drakensberg Boys Choir, have their Music In The Mountains festival in May annually and every Wednesday afternoon a concert for the public, not to be missed for the music lovers and culture fans. The battlefields at Spioenkop Game Reserve is a spectacular scenic experience for history, nature scenes and wildlife. For the more adventurous guests, the river rafting, tree canopy tours, horseriding, ziplining, clay pigeon shooting, archery, mountain boarding , quad biking, and so much more to see and to do, will surprise you. Restaurants, arts & crafts, golfing, falconry, etc, something for everyone. We also offer, Helicopter flips and Hot Air Ballooning. The hiking trails are magnificent, I did the Gorge Trail in Royal National Park, it was awesome with breathtaking views and scenes of nature, especially the Amphitheatre! We are only 3-4 hours drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria and only 2-3 hours from Durban. A wonderful break away for a weekend or a romantic treat for a couple. Quite a few spas available for that special treatment you've been waiting for. Visit us for an unforgettable experience!! You'll be coming back time and again!!
