West Coast Travel Guide

The West Coast is an acquired taste. The vegetation is subdued, the sky incredibly wide and the sea very often a dead calm expanse of cerulean blue. But sometimes, of course, it's an angry grey expanse of snarling and crashing breakers. But change is the only certainty. In spring, the somewhat... Read more

Lamberts Bay Town of West Coast

We with oversee visitors - I think the town itself can very much improve. Staying at White Sands in the centre of the town is not the most attractive area for visitors. The bird island is fantastic Note: In my previous comments I mixed up with an other guest house in Cape l'Agulhas. would you delete that comment. The White sands guesthouse I would rate just within standards. They really could improve on accommodation, particular on the acoustic side. Where ever you walk in the rooms the hall or the dining room, is that awful hollow sound. The rooms and bathrooms are need. But just not that little bit of extra, what makes so many times the difference!

Vanrhynsdorp Town of West Coast

A worthwhile visit to Vanrhynsdorp - A most interesting town. Exceptionally friendly, helpful people. We were given a conducted tour of the old jail - recently restored by a couple who are passionate about the building. The lady at the at the museum provided us with all the information we required for exploring the the area.

Doringbaai Town of West Coast

A photographer's paradise! - We recently had a brief one night stay over in Doringbaai. What a delightful place! A walk down into the fishing harbour, revealed a delightful winery, the Fryer's Cove, with an interesting, background story to tell. Do go and sample their delicious, award winning wines. We also had an exceptional meal of mussels and calamari that evening at the Seespens Restaurant with Charney. Her restaurant has a wonderful collection of nautical things. Amazing photographic opportunities abound with the changing light and moods of this delightful little seaside village.
