This trail is approximately 18 km in length on a route that is clearly marked. The 8 km mountainous part is quite difficult with lots of rock and climbing. The rest of the route runs along the old farrow or river bank circled with willow trees and the ruins of an old Matabele Kraal can be seen. The trail can be done in one day but overnight facilities are available. The difficulty ranges from easy to challenging.

Doornrivier 4x4 Trails is located only 12 km from Zeerust. There are many trails to choose from to test your skills and there are two scenic trails with natural obstacles. This is mainly a mountainous landscape with rock obstacles, ascents, descents and cross axles. It is advised to be extra careful during the rainy seasons. The self-drive trails vary from 3 to 70 km and takes about 3 to 6 hours to complete. The grading varies from 3 to 6. 4x2 vehicles with diff lock and 4x4 vehicles without low range are permitted. High clearance is required. Quad bikes are allowed.
