The spectacular Num-Num Hiking Trail offers seasoned hikers a self-guided three to five day hiking trail in Mpumalanga. The route takes walkers through a spectacular variety of Highveld Escarpment terrain including indigenous forest, sandstone labyrinths, grasslands and waterfalls. The scenic route delivers panoramic views of the Komati Gorge and the Skurweberg stretching all the way to Swaziland. There are plenty of opportunities to spot game and birds. Five comfy and unique overnight camps provide equipped kitchens and hot showers. A slackpacking service is available – organizers transport your luggage to the camp so that you only need to walk with your daypack. The climate is suitable all year around. Winter months are cold in the evenings but glorious and dry during the day. The summer months are warmer but there is a high chance of rain in the afternoons. Public holidays are popular so it is advisable to book well in advance. Hikers need to be reasonably fit and agile; the trail is rated by Green Flag as moderate to difficult. Footpaths take visitors through landscapes that cannot be accessed by vehicles. Be prepared for plenty of swing bridges and ladders, steep hills and descents into stunning gorges. Riemvasmaak is found between the Orange and the dry Molopo Rivers. It is about 57 km from Kakamas and 170 km from the Nakop border post with Namibia. The area is 75 000 ha of sheer mountain desert and wilderness. The landscape was formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. Visitors can unwind in the hot springs with 80 m granite cliffs surrounding them. Two swimming pools are built at the hot springs, of which one has been shaped on a conversation pit.

Being the first Wine Estate this far east in the Western Cape, Bramon has broken new ground by pioneering vineyards in the Plettenberg Bay area.Producing a superior Sauvignon Blanc ‘cap classique’ sparkling wine, the first and only to be produced in the country, Plettenberg Bay has subsequently been classified as a wine of origin region. A coup for the area!Other wine farms have subsequently started up and the Garden Route’s own ‘Sparkling Wine Route’ is now underway.Bramon Methode Cap Classique is a dry brut with the delicate characteristics of it’s cultivar. Green grass and asparagus with granny smith apple aromas and a zesty lingering lime finish. The addition of ‘The Crags,’ a beautiful still Sauvignon with a granadilla and passion fruit nose has added to the Bramon range. New cultivars planted are increasing the range and uniqueness Bramon has become synonymous with and will be vinified in the cellar currently being built. Vukani Empowerment wines are a hand selected collection of local cultivars. Vukani means ‘wake up’ in isiXhosa and supports developing farmers in the Plettenberg Bay area. A percentage of these sales go to The Vukani Trust which helps establish and train previously dis-advantaged farmers in the fields of viticulture and wine making where they have been awarded diplomas in their area of expertise.Land has now been secured around Kurland Village, the Crags’ Township, where they will establish vineyards under the mentorship of Bramon Wines for the Vukani Cellars. This will not only ensure an income for the community but also promote a sustainable, environmentally sound lifestyle for the area as a whole.Vukani and Bramon are committed to the upliftment, education and improvement of the community and further projects are in the pipeline.

Groenkloof 4x4 is in a valley at the foot of Viervoetberg, in the Eastern Free State. The farm offers tracks for quad bikes, mountain bikes and 4x4s. The tracks cross each other but are clearly marked so that nobody gets lost. The 4x4 trail is set along a sandstone cliff and heads to the top of a plateau. The trail splits at the top of the plateau. The trail grading is 2 to 3. You will be asked to deflate your tyres to 1.5 bar and so it is recommended that you bring your compressor along. The trail is 21 km long and takes about 4.5 hours to complete. If you like bass fishing, take your rod along! Please call for further information as the exact GPS coordinates are unknown. Postberg is one of the best places on the West Coast to see fields of wild flowers. This section of the West Coast National Park is only open to visitors during spring. You can do some game viewing from your own vehicle. It’s easy to spot a variety of antelope ranging from Africa's largest, the eland, to pronking springbok or maybe a shy little greysbok. Ostrich and their chicks wander about and if you've got sharp eyes you will discover tortoises, field mice, mongoose and myriads of birds, bees and butterflies. There are also a few great viewpoints for whale watching. Picnic, barbecue and ablution facilities are available for day visitors. There is a shop at the entrance that sells various field guidebooks. Entry is free to Wild Card holders.
