Tanji Tanji Bird Reserve is situated on the Atlantic coast 15 km southwest of the main tourist areas of Fajara and Bakau and 1 km from the developing town of Brufut.
The reserve encloses the tidal, saline shores of Tanji River, bordered by mangrove forest, saltmarsh and mudflats. Bald Cape and the tiny Bijol Islands form part of the reserve, the feeding and roosting grounds to a large diversity of gulls, terns and waders.
A 10-minute drive further will bring you to Tujering Woods and Brufut Woods. Here you can expect to see Black-crowned Tchagra, Osprey, Yellow-crowned Gonolek, Broad Billed Roller and Abyssinian Roller as well as Long-tailed Glossy Starling and Violet-backed Starlings.
