It was established to ensure the preservation of ancient and historical natural monuments, relics and items of archaeological, ethnographical, historical or other scientific interest. The Sierra Leone National Museum has a small but fascinating collection of 'juju' trinkets and historical artifacts, including Temne Guerrilla leader Bai Bureh's drum, clothes and sword.
