Description

Storms River Village is the only one of the main Garden Route towns that is situated in the Eastern Cape, not the Western Cape. It’s a cute little town nestled down among some big old trees, and brooded over by the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Be careful not to confuse the town of Storms River with Storms River Mouth, which is in the Tsitsikamma National Park, and very close by.

Storms River Mouth is a SANParks camp with comfortable accommodation boasting awesome views over the crashing ocean, a restaurant with a view that makes up for the not particularly inspiring menu, and some lovely hikes. Storms River Mouth is the starting point of the wonderful Otter Trail – a five day hike west to Nature’s Valley, and the fabulous slackpacking Dolphin Trail, which heads east. The Dolphin Trail is portered, guided and catered. Accommodation is in pretty wooden chalets at Storms River Mouth for the first night and thereafter in fabulous guest houses.

There are also shorter day walks that take in the forest and a stone age cave. There is a laid out snorkelling trail and a dive operator at Storms River Mouth. You can do a scenic boat trip up the Storms River Gorge from the mouth.
The most interesting thing to do in Storms River town is the Tree Top Canopy Tour, where you fly through the forest canopy on strong cables strung from tree to tree. A far less adventurous way of seeing the forest is on the guided woodcutter’s journey tour.
There is a fun mountain biking trail that takes you to a vantage point overlooking Storms River Mouth. Storms River is about a kilometre off the N2. There are some lovely guest houses, a handful of backpackers’ hostels, and a small hotel.

The adventure capital of the Garden Route is what Stormsriver is! A great destination for the young and young at heart to enjoy amazing outdoor activities and staying in a beautiful little village. Enjoy your meals at Marilyn's Diner ... a treat in a little place like Stormsriver.

We only stayed the night, but I wished it was longer. Could not fault them on anything. From dinner to the kiddies playroom to the absolutely beautiful garden. Will definitely stay there again, and recommend it .

Amazing place with lots of fun and breathtaking activites like tree to tree canopy tours, blackwater river tubing and bungee jumping amongst others. Beautiful serene quiet tranquil surroundings in a clean atmosphere, stress free and away from the hustle of the city. Dolphin View chalets located amongst the cattle farms with the view of the sea. Unusual setting. Excellent, hospitable host at Dolphin View with clean, well catered chalets. A definite return with more time to enjoy the area.

We stayed at the Misty Moutain Reserve in Stormsriver to be close to the nearby Tsitsikama canopy tour. I can recommend this event.

Storms River is a hidden gem on the Garden Route. Just off the N2, there are fantastic walking trails, a mountain bike route through the old Storms River Pass with indigenous forest, and the Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour. Nearby is Storms River Mouth with the iconic Suspension Bridge, and then for the brave there is Bloukrans Bridge with the world's highest bungee jump from a bridge! And after doing all these things, just sit and enjoy the peace of this friendly village and your views of the Tsitsikamma mountain range.

Storms River can be all things to all visitors and tourists! Situated between mountain and sea offering wonderful scenery, happy people, good food & wine, and hiking both in the forests and at the glorious Tsitsikamma National Park. Adventure activities galore including Black Water Tubing, Treetop Canopy Tours, and Segway rides.

We were very surprised about the Stormsriver area. We only passed through on our way to Hartenbos/Mossel Bay and Cape Town. Definately visiting the Stormsriver area soon again to explore some more.

We had a great time in storms river. We will definitely be back. The sights, the fynbos smell, the happy friendly people, it's the best place on the garden route, (and we did the trip from Jeffery's Bay to cape town.

Stormsriver is a little town in the heart of Tsitsikamma National Park. Even though it is small it offers a lot of adventure trips such as canoeing and hiking.

Head to Stormsriver after a real South African game experience and when your camera is filled with furry and tusked animals. The area has numerous tourist activities and a two to three day stay is needed. I would rate this as one of South Africa’s more comprehensive destinations.

A great location for a weekend stop. Go on a treetop canopy tour or hike through the surrounding forests. What an amazing place.
