Directions to Baobab Ridge Greater Kruger

Directions from Johannesburg: (About 6 to 7 hours’ drive)

-N12 toward Witbank (Now called eMalahleni)
-N4 toward Nelspruit, turn off onto R33 at Belfast
-Turn onto R540 via Dullstroom and Lydenburg
-R36 via Ohrigstad and the JG Strijdom tunnel
-R527 via Hoedspruit
-Drive through Hoedspruit until you reach a T-junction
-Turn right onto R40 towards White River
-Drive about 6.5 KM, turn left at the “Timbavati Eastgate Airport” sign. Here you just sign in at the antipoaching (Guernsey) gate.
-Continue straight on the tarred road for about 18.2 KM until you reach the Klaserie/ Timbavati gate
“Enkhulu Gate” (entrance fee per vehicle- please take enough cash)
-About 8.3 KM after the gate you turn left at the “Baobab Ridge” sign onto the farm (the sign is on the
the right side of the road).
-Follow the dirt road, past the staff village of grey rondavels on your right, until you reach the lodge (signs
lead the way).

PLEASE NOTE: There are a few potholes between Dullstroom and Lydenburg so you’ll have to drive
VERY slowly/ carefully!!

Another option is:
Drive on the N1 via Pretoria, Polokwane, Magoebaskloof, Tsaneen and R40 towards Hoedspruit. This
option seems longer, but due to you being able to drive faster, you get to the lodge around the same time as
above route! If you take this route, you will remain on the R40 and drive past Hoedspruit and then follow
directions above, Drive about 6.5 KM, turn left at the “Timbavati/ Eastgate airport” sign etc....
The route via Nelspruit is ok, but you will go through townships and potholes too between Hazyview and
Hoedspruit and this way will take you much longer.

Directions from Nelspruit: (About 3 hours’ drive)

-R40 through White River, Hazyview and Acornhoek
-Turn right after Acornhoek toward Hoedspruit on R40 (road forks)
-After about 17KM turn right at the “Timbavati Eastgate Airport” sign. Here you just sign in at the antipoaching gate.
-Continue straight on the tarred road for about 18.2 KM until you reach the Klaserie/ Timbavati gate

Directions from Phalaborwa gate: (About 2.5 hours’ drive)
-Drive on the R40 from Phalaborwa gate through Phalarborwa via Mica towards White River
-After Hoedspruit drive another 6.5 km and turn left at the “Timbavati / Eastgate Airport” sign. (Here you
just sign in at the anti-poaching gate.)
-Continue straight on the tarred road for about 18.2 KM until you reach the Klaserie/ Timbavati gate

Drive on the R531 from Orpen gate toward Acornhoek
-Take the R40 towards Hoedspruit (go right)

-Continue straight on the tarred road for about 18.2 KM until you reach the Klaserie/ Timbavati gate
