Directions to Makanyane Safari Lodge

From the N1 take the William Nicol Drive off-ramp. At the intersection, turn right onto the R511 to Fourways. Follow this road for another 3km After the third intersection get into the left hand lane and take the off-ramp onto the R564 Witkoppen Road. Immediately move into the right hand lane, as you will need to turn right at the first intersectionAt the intersection, turn right onto Cedar Avenue. Continue along this road for +- 8km until a T- junction. Here you will see a sign showing to a Lion Park to your left. Turn left, immediately after is a turning to the right with a large Sun City Sign (50m), turn right here. Follow this road for +- 3km over the Pretoria highway and to another T- junction (sign: R512 Brits, Lanseria right, Randburg left). Turn right, follow this road for +- 19km, passing the Lanseria turnoff on the right until the T- junction at a fruit stall (sign: R 512 Pretoria right, Sun City left). Turn left to Sun City. Follow. Turn right and go over the Hartebeespoort Dam Bridge. +- 4km later is another T- junction, (sign: R560 Magaliesburg left, Brits, Sun City right). Turn right, +-4km later is a 4 way crossing, with a large flea market on the left, (sign: N4 Rustenburg, R512 Brits left, Hartebeespoort Dam right). Turn left, follow this road for +-15km through the flea market, past a right turn to Brits, a right turn to Brits, Rustenburg and Sun City and another right turn to Brits. In a small village is the right turn to the Pilanesberg (sign: Rustenburg straight, Pilanesburg right). Take this road, which crosses the N4 to Rustenburg, heading towards the Pilanesberg and Sun City. It is +- 73 km to Sun City. +- 5km after the turning to Sun City is a 2 way stop,Turn right towards Derdepoort. (On this road you will pass a sign for the Madikwe Game Reserve). Follow this road for +-8 km until the Bapong sign (sign: Bapong left, Derdepoort straight) just after Matooster on your right (There is also another sign showing the direction to Makanyane Safari Lodge). Turn left towards Bapong. +- 14km later is a sign showing left right to Batlhalengwe. +- 2km later, (after a sign on your left: Tweelaagte), is an intersection (sign: Ruighoek right, Mabeskraal straight, Matooster behind you). Keep straight towards the town of Mabeskraal, which begins +- 7 km further. Once on the dirt road you immediately reach a 4 way stop in the village of Makweleng (sign: Swartruggens left, Madikwe straight, Derdepoort, Kayakulu right. There is another sign showing the direction to Makanyane Safari Lodge here). Please ignore the Madikwe sign and turn right towards Derdepoort, Kayakulu. +- 4 km along this road is a 4-way yield, (sign: Kayakulu left, Derdepoort straight), keep straight towards Derdepoort. +- 17 km later you will pass the Dwarsberg café ( There is another sign for Makanyane here) on your left. +- 29km after the 4-way yield is a turn off to the right with a sign on the left showing to Madikwe River Lodge, (sign: Madikwe River Lodge 40km right, there is also another sign parallel to the road: Molatedi right, Mabaalstad left. Turn right and follow this road for +- 28 km, until you reach the Krokodildrift gate on the left hand side of the road. Along the road you will pass a right turn to Dwaalboom (+- 5km after the Madikwe River Lodge turning), a left turn to Kameelboom, another right turn to Dwaalboom (+- 14km after the turning), a left to Smaldale (+-22km after the turning) and a right turn to Buffelsdrift (+- 26km after the turning). There is a large “Makanyane” sign and a vehicle will be waiting to welcome you.
