Directions to Waylands Country House
From Port Elizabeth:
320km An easy 3 1/2 hours drive by road. 280km tar 40kmgravel.
From Port Elizabeth one can either go via ADELAIDE or FORT BEAUFORT
Beyond PORT ELIZABETH ( after Sundays River) there will be a be a large cloverleaf intersection .Turn towards Cookhouse Somerset East Cradock for the route via BEDFORD and ADELAIDE Or take the alternative route to GRAHAMSTOWN and then via Ecca Pass to FORT BEAUFORT
ADELAIDE ROUTE.
We are about 50km from Adelaide in POST RETIEF.
At Adelaide must go round the circle take turnout towards Railway and Hospital. You want to be on the road to POST RETIEF which runs passed Adelaide Hospital on the right and the golf course on the left, Onto the dirt road, Slow for the first bit as bad.
Drive up through Bushneck Reserve and towards Post Retief. . You will pass the T Junction to Fort Beaufort on the right. We have a Waylands Country House signboard at this intersection . Go straight passed towards Post Retief . The road is not great from here again so slow down.
FORT BEAUFORT ROUTE
At Fort Beaufort turn onto R67 towards Queenstown.
10km from Fort Beaufort turn left Post Retief Mpofu Game Reserve Blinkwater. Continue through the Reserve and up the Blinkwater Hill to the Post Retief Conservancy gate.
At the T junction turn right towards Post Retief. Our Waylands Country House signboard directs you 19km to the right.
Pass “Killaloe ' - Rufus Dreyer
Post Retief Barracks on the right on top of the hill.
At the Fork in road Keep where the tennis courts on your right and Post Retief School left keep Right towards Queenstown (Not Waaikraal , Tarkastad or Police!)
The Post Retief School , The Church and old Schoolhouse will be on your left .
