The minute you enter Mozambique you feel that you in a foreign land but you feel secured. It's not a country that will take your breath away but it's serenity makes you feel home away from home.
While visiting there I stayed at Hotel Cardoso, a 4 star hotel with mosquito nets on windows and very clean coupled with their friendly and always helpful staff, please take note of Alison he is top-class.
Currency is a challenge, although they take ZAR and US Dollar but they don't change it with an exact rate thus opening a chance to be robbed. When you there, take Yellow/Green motorcycles, they will show you the whole town and places of notable interest for MOZ500/hr.
People are poor there but the level of crime is very low, you roam the streets without any fear but avoid secluded areas. You can also take a boat to Catembe island for MZ2, it is always full to capacity.
Language is a challenge here if you don't know Portuguese, Mozambicans can hardly speak English. I fell in love with this country although it's not beautiful. I wish visit it again and stay a little bit longer.
