I found Maputo to be refreshing, the old Portuguese Architecture juxtaposed against the new...a vibey city with pavement cafes. While some parts of the city are delapidated...a key attraction was the friendliness and feeling safe.

As a whole I feel that we need to do more in taking care of our backyard, I was very disappointed considering it is a popular tourist destination, I'm sure there are dynamics contributing but we need to do more taking care of our surrounds not just for the tourists but for yourselves, but yes the people were helpful and friendly and the food was good.

Apart from being one of the developing countries, i think the city hosts such friendly people even though i got robbed of my belongings at Mccdonalds in the CBD. I think overall it is the nicest place even though the beaches in town were dirty. The islands were out of this world. Tebogo Galane from Polokwane

Although many parts of the city look dilapidated, the place is friendly and alive both during the day and at night. People walk freely at night without fear of being attacked. Our group was out on the streets every night and did not experience a single bad incident.

Very frindly people. The City is buzzing at night which makes it difficult to differentiate between day and night. People are free to walk at any time without fear of crime. You can park your car any where and you will find it the same. Entertainment in Maputo is their daily bread.

Beautiful beaches but very laid back. The sea food was devine & hotel staff were helpful.Beware of locals trying to put you out of pocket & mosquitoes. The ferry system needs to be upgraded otherwise we had an enjoyable stay.

Corruption all the way from the borders to the town. The cops and higher officials are all in it. The only way out of a situation is bribery or stay in jail. I cannot understand why tourists is a major target for bribery. Maputo has a lot of tourists potential. Major improvements from my previous visits. Hope the criminal elements are erradicated soon!

This city is a bit of a mixed bag. It's locations are rather attractive on the seaside, however the effects of the civil war is evident. Strangely this city has good night life and a few good restaurants. Worth spending a night or two here!
