Wonderful stay!

What a lovely place! My family was lucky enough to stay at the farm a few days after they came down. My son had a wonderful time on the farm. He loved the open space, the animals and riding on his bike. The cottage was well equipped, it had everything we needed. Very very comfortable. Thank you to everyone there, will definitely be back.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Dunelm and would definitely recommend to others. Maretha and Stefan were very helpful and friendly and we would visit again. Cottages are well laid out and nicely appointed.


Dunelm Gasteplaas
Dunelm Gasteplaas is situated near Clarens in the centre of the mountainous Brandwater Basin of the Eastern Free State, near the Lesotho border. This spectacular guest farm is owned and managed by Stephan and Maretha de Kock, who proudly share their living dream with other people.

Dunelm Gasteplaas offers a range of attractions on the farm, ranging from long and short scenic walks to fishing and having picnics under the overhanging cliff. There is so much on offer at Dunelm Gasteplaas and its surrounds, from extremely demanding activities right down to general hiking and viewing of rock art. There are also plenty of shops or stalls and restaurants to visit.

Dunelm Gasteplaas offers luxury self-catering accommodation near Clarens, the ultimate destination for a graceful country experience. This is a working farm, with modern game and cattle ranching, proudly producing as much as possible of the fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs for the establishment.

Extensive walking trails across the farm lead into the Sandstone Mountains and through the forest, passing a fascinating variety of historically kept graveyards of family members and workers, and spectacular mountain and plains scenery.
