Jacky du Plessis - Monday, 28 January 2019
What an amazingly peaceful stay, being away surrounded by nature the sound of birds being absolutely closed off in the stone circle lodge was the most amazing experience. With though power gas stoves and LED lights it was truly a comfortable and pleasant stay. We will definitely be going back in the near future

The stay was so lovely. I will recommend the place to people and I will certainly go back. The room was nice and cosy. The walks to the waterfall were absolutely great and it was very pleasant just to be in nature. I found the decor to be interesting as well.
Magical stay in one of the most beautiful parts of SA

What can be said about Caracal lodge. Pictures and words don’t do it justice, it truly is a little piece of heaven. From the accommodation that truly makes you feel that you have your own cottage in the bush, to Gerry the giraffe, Mary the lamb, Billy the goat, the wonderful dogs,Lulu especially ;) , to the TWO waterfalls available on the wild and wonderful hiking trails, and last but not least the hospitality of the owners Donald and Caryn (as well as their friends) , this is a place that needs to be experienced in the flesh for you to understand its magic.. We shall indeed return, just this time not in polo, LOL!
Amazing Getaway

We had the most amazing stay as Caracal Lodge!

They were very accommodating as we were only able to arrive very late on Friday evening. On our arrival the staff was waiting for us and were very friendly and professional.

The perfect getaway from our crazy life to just relax and enjoy the peace and quite.

We will definitely be going back in the very near future.

Being able to interact with Gerry the giraffe was an extra amazing experience and I cant wait to take my kids to meet him
What a lovely surprise

We stayed in Nyala Lodge, and the accommodation is excellent. It was a pleasant surprise to find a fully equipped kitchen too :) We only overnighted so I cant comment on the walks and trails in the reserve. I would recommend a good ground clearance vehicle for accessing Caracal. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there (after Id gotten over the fright that Gerry the giraffe gave me after suddenly appearing right next to my vehicle)
My amazing weekend getaway

My stay at Caracal Lodge was amazing. I experienced numerous things there. The view from my cottage was out of this world. Gerry the friendly Giraffe was also nice. Caracal lodge is the perfect getaway for partners or families who just want to relax and enjoy nature. The activities they offer are also fun. The entertainment area is also amazing. The staff are also friendly and always willing to help. I would recommend people to go there, to relax and learn to appreciate nature in its purest form. I had an amazing stay. Thank you Donald. We will definitely be coming back.

This was an amazing experience and would like to recommend it to any nature lover! The views are incredible and the quality of the bedding and utensils in the cottages are of the highest range. Hospitably is great and they attend to all your needs. Would certainly go again! And this time in Magtree Cottage
a little bit of paradise

We booked a weekend at Caracal lodge not knowing what to expect. We certainly know now and will definitely be going back. The accommodation was very comfortable, ambience unbelievable and the farm is wonderful. Lots of hiking trails, waterfalls, wonderful views etc. They also have many different varietals of buck, caracal, giraffe (one of which is tame and accompanies you on walks - we went for a 6km walk with Jerry :-)) It was a magical weekend and only 3 hours from Johannesburg
Perfect getaway

We are so happy we chose to go to Caracal lodge for a romantic getaway. We stayed in the Stone Circle Cottage. It has a wonderful outside shower which is exhilarating for the warm weather. We came from Middelburg, which is under 2 hours away from Caracal. Jan took us on a 4X4 drive to take a view of the farm and the surrounding areas, he was very professional and knowledgeable. We also explored the caves on the farm, which was a lot of fun. Jerry the giraffe walked with us to the waterfall where we had a lovely time cooling off under the waterfall. We would like to thank Donald for everything. It was really lovely and Caracal would see us again soon.
Stone Circle
Charl Ferreira, South Africa - Monday, 15 July 2013
Stay was nice. The road leading to the Lodge is terrible and had some damage to the underside of my car, must have a SUV or Bakkie. Water used for bathing was very dirty as it was to cold for shower as there was only an outside shower. Personally I think it is a bit over priced for what you get.
Highly recommended
Bontle Senne, South Africa - Tuesday, 18 June 2013
We stayed in Kudu Lodge which was lovely and thoroughly enjoyed Caracal Lodge. We would highly recommend it to others.

3 nights was just not enough to fully enjoy the incredible hospitality, beautiful views and stunning accommodation! The lodge gets our two thumbs up and then some!
Absoluut ongelooflik!

Baie baie lekker! Waar in jou lewe!
Awesome!

Tranquility and peace
Albert Venter, Seychelles - Wednesday, 19 September 2012
We stayed in the Figtree Lodge for two nights and had a very pleasant time. The oil lamps gave a very old world atmosphere, the setting is stunning and the tame giraffe was a treat! Walk to waterfall and caves beautiful. Truly a gem and would recommend it for a tranquil escape. 11km dirt road forces you to stay in, so take everything from salt and pepper (there are 2 braais and wood) to wine. Splash pool should be great in summer.
A little bit of heaven on earth
laura werkendam, Netherlands - Monday, 20 August 2012
By far one of the best places we have ever been! How lucky we were to have found it. The lovely lodges are beautifully decorated. The environment is breathtaking. Giraffes, zebra's, horses, ostriches, turkeys and lots more are walking freely on the land which was a dream for the children. Many many thanks to Karen & Donald for making our stay one we will remember for ever!
Lekker!

Easter at Caracal Lodge
irene Zvitambo, South Africa - Thursday, 12 April 2012
My friends and I always have an annual Easter ritual getaway and this time we decided to try out Caracal Lodge, a decision I'm happy to say we have NOT regretted. The Lodge was amazing! The views stunning! And the hospitality, out of this world! What a high standard of excellence the owners have. We have now made this our Easter gateaway home.
Stunning
irene Zvitambo, South Africa - Tuesday, 10 April 2012
A stunning lodge. The views from the lodge were magnificent. Not forgetting our breakfasts on the deck with views of giraffes and impalas. We enjoyed the picnic by the waterfalls and the game drive. This is the place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owners are friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. Hats off to them. We enjoyed ourselves and we are making this our yearly getaway spot!

Comfortable and elegant self-catering accommodation in a delightful wild garden setting. Lovely scenery nearby. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go on a game drive.
Awesome

It really is a truly awesome lodge. The scenery is breathtaking! We saw giraffe and zebra. It's the perfect place to go to reconnect to nature and yourself! I would recommend it to anyone that needs to escape the city life!

Caracal Lodge
Caracal Lodge offers self-catering luxury accommodation situated in the beautiful valley of Houtboshoek in Mpumalanga, only 48 km from Nelspruit and 100 km from the Kruger National Park. Caracal Lodge is a 300-hectare game farm comprising four luxury cottages.

The lodge offers various options of luxury accommodation, each with its own special features aimed at lovers of nature and wildlife. Figtree Lodge and Magtree Lodge are bush cottages for couples lit by gas and lamplight, with full self-catering facilities, while Kudu and Nyala Cottages are two-bedroom cottages, each with electricity and all amenities for self-catering.

We are situated in a beautiful valley with 360-degree views. The lodge is surrounded by beautiful grassy mountains, home to the mountain reedbuck, grey rhebuck, oribi and bushbuck, which occur naturally in the area. 300 hectares of unspoilt nature is home to the various species of game that have been introduced, including impala, livingstone eland, zebra, waterbuck, nyala, kudu, blue wildebeest, and giraffe. The shy Red duiker is often seen furtively feeding off the lawns of our two luxury bush lodges.

Take a hike or 4x4 drive around the ranch and enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful valley and view game at the same time. A babbling brook with crystal clear mountain water feeds the spectacular waterfall where you can enjoy a picnic, sundowner or a splash under the shade of the forest that surrounds it.
