The Santa unit is compact, but well equipped with everything you need. It was quiet and neat. Secure parking, friendly & helpful staff.

Thank you so much for a wonderful overnight stay. A friendly happy atmosphere. Eddies Guesthouse will definitely be worth another stay in the future.

LOVED:Unit was quality. Quality TV and loved the electric blankets. IMPROVE: Floors were really cold, maybe look at underfloor heating and a heater in winter as the room can be very cold with the face brick.

Excellent and value for money

When we arrived at the guest house we had a warm welcome and was impressed with the place. The owner Dawn briefed us of all place we should see. She left and gave as the assurance that she is available for any enquiries 24 Hours a day. Later that evening round about 23H00 we realized that the pillows had a very bad smell. We only became aware of the smell when we wanted to sleep. At first, we thought that we are mistaken but when we wanted to sleep, we could not tolerate the smell. We sent a message to the owner informing her about the pillows. When she arrived at our room, she became annoyed about our complain. In stead of replacing the pillows without reasoning about is, she started to pull the pillowcases of and smell each of the 4 pillows. According to her there was nothing wrong and that her pillows never smell. She indicated that she had the pillows for eight years and never had any complaints. We tried to avoid a ongoing argument and suggested that we just leave everything as ease. She refused to stop the argument and become aggressive in her attack on the issue. My wife told her we don’t want a refund but will appreciate a new pillow. She refused to leave the argument and instead start raising her voice. We informed her that we did not want to argue the whole time. She just went on shouting that her guesthouse pillows do not smell, and we are wrong. She went as far as to point her finger to my wife saying “why should you (my wife) be right and she wrong. We pointed out that the customer is always right, this triggered her to became more aggravated and once again smell the pillows by putting her whole face in the pillows and each time repeating “my kussing stink nie” even though we indicated that the current situation could have been the odd one out situation, she kept on arguing blaming as for complaining unnecessary . This argument lasted almost 30 minutes leaving a very bad taste. Eventually she left and after a while come back and throw a pillow before the door and left. This pillow was fine. When we woke-up the follow morning we receive a letter addressed to Afrisstay bad mouthing us. It is our option that she wants to rectify her action and blame us. It did not stop with the letter she harassed us by sending sms’e and with an insulting tone. The more we asked her to drop the arguments and move on the worse the sms attacks continued until we blocked her. We are aware that she sent you a copy of the letter as well as a sms that insulted us several. This type of behaviour is not acceptable at all. Thus, we will not recommend any body to stay at her place. This behaviour is absurd and unprofessional. Her behaviour left a bad memory of Clarence which does not give us any confident to recommend Clarence and moreover to stay at Eddies B&B In fact, the more we think about it the more we realize that we want to be refunded. Please take note that we will also visit the other booking agencies to leave commentary about our bad experience.

The stay was fantastic. The owner is very friendly and even helped a lot with a tour guide. Hiking to the mountain every morning. We felt like we could have stayed longer.

Eddie's was a good choice to stay. Very clean, so close to the hub of everything and Dawn, owner of Eddie's was such a Blessing. Very friendly, going the extra mile to make us feel comfortable with a wealth of knowledge what to do and where to go.

Dawn was amazing. Perfect hostess. Checked up on us every morning and and made sure we where comfortable. Helped if we needed anything. Very clean and perfect location.

Eddie's B&B are within walking distance to restuarant nature reserve and the Clarens dam. There's beautiful views of the Redstone and Lesotho mountains from your balcony. Every morning Dawn goes up the koppie is for a 2hr long hike, this is a fun activity for guests to join in on. We enjoyed our stay the June apartment was just perfect.

The rooms are very well maintained providing all necessities. Rooms are very clean and well kept. I recommend Eddies for a weekend away.

Great place for overnight stay. Dawn provides great advice and provides a warm and cosy bed- fireplace, down duvet and eletric blankets! Walking distance to shops and restaurants.

This was a very well-equipped apartment, with great outlook. Dawn was very helpful and her offer of joining her on her morning walk at 6am was taken up by some of our party who thoroughly enjoyed the walk and talking to Dawn.

Thank You we did love staying at your BnB and thought it was very nice except for the fact that the taps in the room by the microwave needed a new washer and dripped until e turned them off so tight we could hardly turn them on. Also the ends of the curtains had not been secured properly so all the curtain clips came off which was very irrritating. I did feel that the large blanker we were given could have done with a wash but other than that we were very happy and thought it was lovely and will definately be back

Dawn is so accommodating, a bit far to walk to and from town at night if it's winter but perfect for walking there in the day!

Conveniently located on the main tarred road, less than 5 minutes walk from the town square, but still far enough away to be quiet. The owner was very friendly and assisted us with our plans around Clarens. The room was cleaned daily and was comfortable. Well worth the price! However, if you are going to Clarens for rest and relaxation - be sure to go off-peak and during the week, as it gets very busy peak season and weekends. The town itself is lovely with many art shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay at Eddie's again.

Very conveniently situated allowing you to walk everywhere. Very welcoming owner and a lovely warm room in mid winter with all you need and more. Awesome views of the mountains and the best shower I have ever had. Off street parking is a bonus. Exceptional value for money.

A wonderful welcome from the hostess Fran, as Dawn was on leave. Well equipped upstairs flat with everything needed incl a family size fridge. Thankfully wi-fi was included which was lacking in other places along the way, on our holiday. LOVED the view. The only downside for us as very slight sleepers; was being made aware of the time regularly throughout the night by a bell in the village, but leaving the fan on drowned that out on our second night. Some delightfully quirky little things, and the unit was spotlessly clean. Will recommend a stay there.

We stayed in the Anki cottage which has a nice terrace and great view on the mountains. Dawn the host is adorable and of great advice on what to do in and around Clarens.

We  stayed  one night  at eddies  the room although a little small was was well equipped and very clean our host was very friendly and had some very good tips on places  to visit  we will definitely  be back at eddies  on our next stay in clarens 

Not the first stay at Eddie's and not the last. Very well organised and pin neat. The unit is extremely compact, but everything fits in its place. You can self cater if you wish, but why bother when a plethora of restaurants are at your doorstep? A short stroll into the village and you are spoilt for choice of places to eat and things to look at. Highly recommended and faultlessly run by Dawn.

Eddie's Self-catering and B&B is situated very central in Clarens. We will recommend Eddie's to anyone who want to stay over at Clarens. The hospitality of Dawn is outstanding. The apartments is luxury, clean and of a very high standard. The service in overall is of the best. We will be back again at Eddie's.

What a experience? Our first time in Clarence and from the time we arrived Dawn made our experience amazing to say the least. We were told where to have breakfast so that the kids can enjoy themselves and we could relax, where to go and what to see in the day we were there. The little flat was neat cosy on arrival. Dawn was very welcoming. When we got back from breakfast, the room was already cleaned and neat and tidy. We had a very pleasant stay.

Dawn was very helpful in recommending things to do in the area. Stayed in the June unit with my sister and her husband and really enjoyed it. Great use of space. Appreciated having the little kitchen prep area and so many warm blankets and heaters for the winter chill. Would definitely stay again, great deal!

... Stay at Eddies. We had a wonderful stay at Eddie's. It's ideally situated, being a short walk from the town. Dawn is a fantastic host, in that she was willing to take us on walks, and help us out with any information we needed regarding the town. We highly recommend Eddies to anybody that stays in Clarens.

We had an amazing experience. Went there for our anniversary. Dawn, the owner, was kind enough to upgrade us to a bigger unit at no extra charge. The place is extremely neat and well maintained. Brilliant and affordable cleaning service. Amazing views of the mountains. Free daily walks up the mountain. Could not have asked for better accommodation.

After booing this accommodation based solely on the reviews I read, I have to say I agree with everyone who says it is a gem in Clarens. We arrived on the Friday afternoon and were greeted by Dawn the owner. She is absolutely lovely, knows everything there is to know about the do's and don’ts of Clarens and is willing to give any of her guests’ advice. We stayed in the unit called Santa: very cosy with a fireplace, heated blankets and our own little kitchenette. And for only R30 a day the room gets cleaned, dishes done, beds made etc. We were really impressed with the quality of the room; the bedding was lovely as was the mattress. We will most definitely consider Eddie's again if we return to Clarens.

Accommordation was superb. Very clean and I liked the fact that the staff goes an extra mile, like washing and ironing clothes without any extra charge. Dawn(owner) took us for a mountain walk of which I think was very adventurerous for "Gautengers" and has taught us a lesson that no matter how hard the climbing can be, ones you have reached your peak, the rest will just be smooth. Thank you Dawn.

New, nicely decorated, neat, friendly people. However we tried to change booking from 12 to 8 people but were refused and we had to settle the full bill for 12 people only to hear that accomodation was desperately needed for the weekend (weddings etc). We could have saved some money and others could have had accomodation if only the request to change the booking could have been granted. It is recommended that the policy on changing bookings be reviewed.

My family spent one night at Eddie's and absolutely loved it there! It was more than what we have expected and we're really glad that we chose Eddie's. We stayed at the unit called June. It is a two bedroom, self-catering unit. The unit is well equipped, cozy, clean and homey. The view from the units (in particular June and Santa) is spectacular! Overlooking the Maluti Mountains. The owner, Dawn, welcomed us as we arrived. She is such a warm, friendly person and quite an artist too - beautiful paintings inside the unit are painted by her. We definitely recommend Eddie's to anyone coming to Clarens. Can't wait to plan our next trip to Clarens and looking forward to stay at Eddies again!

We had a lovely stay. Dawn was very friendly and we felt very welcome. Accommodation was very neat and well equipped. lovely views of the mountains. Just a pity we didn't have a longer stay.

The accommodation was clean, well appointed, comfortable and well equipped for self-catering. The establishment is within easy walking distance of the town center and restaurants. The upstairs apartments have stunning views of the mountains. Our stay was enjoyable and we recommend Eddies without reservations.

Vier van ons, twee afgetrede pare, het twee aande hier oorgebly. Dit was 'n baie lekker en genotvolle ondervinding. Alles was pragtig skoon en netjies; Dawn was baie vriendelik en behulpsaam. Ons kan Eddie's sonder voorbehoud aanbeveel. Four of us, two retired couples, stayed here for two nights. It was a very nice and enjoyable experience. Everything was beautifully clean and neat; Dawn was very friendly and helpful. We can recommend Eddies without reservation.

My wife and I stayed in the June unit which has a great view. Though basic, the unit was clean and had everything we needed. It's also just a short walk to the town centre, so it was convenient while also being quiet. And Dawn's price was excellent. We had another quote for the same nine days that cost R9000 more - needless to say we didn't accept it. Dawn was away for most of the time but stand-ins Francois and Jan looked after us very well. (And as a footnote, if you are taken ill in Clarens (which my wife was), the Hoogland Medi-Clinic in Bethlehem deserves the highest praise. It's like hospitals used to be!)

Clarens is a very cosy town, and Eddies was comfortable, hosts, friendly and accommodating and helpful - really had a good stay even though shorter than anticipated. Just one small suggestion - the small units could do with a fan or air-con - it was very hot inside the unit as it was a scorcher of a day until later the evening when it cooled off with the rain.

Accommodation was ideal for what we needed as we were only travelling through. Reception on arrival was great and settling in was fine. Do hope to stay longer next time.

Staying at Eddie's B&B was wonderful experience, the location, rates and accommodation was very helpful and hospitable. Staying up late on Thursday to welcome us and organised a late supper for us. Really great place - highly recommended.

We got married in Clarens Methodist Church 7 years ago. It is tradition to visit Clarens since then for our aniversary annually. We (two adults and two kids) managed to book ANKI at Eddies during the weekend of 30 August -1 September 2010. This was without doubt our best experience of Clarens. The main contributing factor was the luxurious facilities of Anki with her spacious rooms, well equipped kitchen, fire place, the best view of the Maluti's from the stoep - where we shared as family good memories while we enjoyed good wine and the tranquility of this precious pearl of the Free State. The overall cleanliness of the unit, the secure parking area, the fact that we were at walking distance from the major shops, restaurants and attractions added to our good memories of our stay. One thing is sure, we will visit Clarens again and we will ensure that we stay next time again at Eddies.

It was really our money well spent. Everything was excellent! A very cosy place and very friendly people!
