A very interesting stay
Mike Smith, South Africa - 22 May 2013
Unfortunately when we arrived there was no one to meet us and as we did not have a Namibian cell phone we were unable to contact the manager who apparently lived about 25 kms away. The place is very neat and has many interesting decor items. The manager, when we met her, was very pleasant and helpful.
Home from home in the platteland
Clive Basson, South Africa - 22 April 2013
An overnight stay on the way from Waterberg to Mata-Mata after a long trip was just what we needed. Warm, friendly reception, excellent facilities and freedom from uneccesary interference made the short stay a memorable experience. Thanks to Anya, Simone and Deon for their hospitality - a strong recommendation to all travelling in this area. Baie dankie.

We were really well looked after by Salome who welcomed us (even though we arrived late). The facilities were very pleasant and we would happily stay there again if in the area.

Bastion Farmyard B&B is just the place you want to lay your head of a long drive in the heat of Namibia. The management and staff were absolutely delightful, helpful and welcoming. With air-conditioning, wifi, hot showers (or bath), comfortable bed, well-equipped rooms, ice-cold refreshments and a wonderful breakfast, Bastion is hard to beat. Would absolutely recommend it.
Comfortable
Helen Licata, Italy - 28 August 2012
We had a brief and comfortable stay at Bastian's: lovely comfortable rooms, wi-fi, delicious full breakfast and lovely garden. Small coffee shop with homemade biscuits and jam for sale - which we took advantage of! Recommended to anyone travelling up to or from Windhoek.
Charming farm
MARIA TERESA CARRA, Italy - 19 August 2012

Gem
Pieter Venter, South Africa - 17 August 2012
A gem just outside Mariental: excellent facilities and well equiped kitchen and braai area. We preferred to self-cater and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Thank you for the hospitality.
Die beste
Johan Koortzen, South Africa - 13 July 2012
Splendid

Outstanding accommodation
Elsabe Liebenberg, South Africa - 04 May 2012
Excellent setting with very well equipped room and amenities. Kitchen well equiped. Hosts Salome and Deon and assistant Anja went out of their way to let us feel comfortable and enjoy our stay. This is one of the best B&B's visited during our recent visit to Namibia. We truly wish we could stay another night - sitting on the stoep having a sundowner with dusk setting in was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend Bastion near Mariental to anyone en route to Windhoek or visiting Namibia.
Good value
Graham Keen, Malawi - 18 April 2012
Good value for money. Little extras included. Manager very helpful. A great find.
Welcoming hosts
Alain & Lone Dagut, South Africa - 14 March 2012
We were unfortunate to be there at the same time as a group of fishermen who were partying till midnight.....hence a very bad night. The host very welcoming and we would stay there again without the noisy guests.
Good service

Sarel Dry, South Africa - 08 November 2011
Wonderful and friendly reception. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean. The showers are a bit slippery though. The kitchen is great! Love the homely feeling. The little gift shop is a fabulous treat. We will visit again.
Fantastic place to stay
frances martin, South Africa - 26 October 2011
We loved the whole place. It is so well set out with quirky wall decorations on the outside, great old farm implements, lovely plants and trees in attractive gravel settings - a great deal of work has gone into making the farmyard attractive. Inside the room was comfortable and the comunal kitchen well equipped.

A pleasant surprise!
Anne-Marie Pretorius, South Africa - 11 July 2011
This was one of the best places I have ever stayed at! It was so much more than what was expected and we were pleasantly surprised to find absolutely everything we needed right there! The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable, the surrounding area clean and neat with lots of quirky, interesting things to find all over the yard. As it was very cold we were pleased to find an indoor braai in the kitchen and we had an interesting evening chatting to the other guests as the kitchen is shared by all staying there. Our breakfast was excellent, served by Salome herself and her husband. I can recommend Bastion to anybody travelling in Namibia. It is luxury accommodation at a very affordable price!

A beautiful little oasis! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome. The rooms are beautifully decorated and everything has been thought of for a weary traveller. We utilized the indoor braai on a very cold night and had a lovely cosy evening next to the fire. Most enjoyable!
This is a jewel in the desert!

The Bastion was quaint, charming and a delightful place to stay. Our hostess was also superb with that wonderful country hospitality that is lacking in the city. An absolute pleasure!

Bastion Farmyard B & B
Experience the pleasure of staying on a peaceful and tranquil farm. Bastion Farmyard is a restored farmhouse situated among the farmlands of the Hardap Irrigation Scheme. It is the ideal base to visit the surrounding areas as it is only nine kilometres from Hardap Dam Resort and 14 km from Mariental in southern Namibia.

Our location on the B1, halfway between Mata-Mata and Sesriem, makes it an ideal stop over and base from which to explore the famed Namib Desert and the Kgalagadi Desert. It is a tranquil retreat after spending time in these world-renowned tourist destinations. Bastion Farmyard is perfectly suited for families or friends to enjoy the beautiful gardens and has lots of space for children. The farm offers secure, spacious and safe off-street parking. The covered verandas are ideal for outdoor entertaining and braaing is a great Namibian tradition. We provide both indoor and outdoor braai facilities.

There are a total of five very well equipped en-suite rooms to choose from. The skillful interior is done by the owners who have made every effort to carefully and uniquely decorate each room as well as the kitchen and dining room. The rooms can accommodate from one to five people each and 16 people in total.

Bastion Farmyard serves a delicious warm farm breakfast plated with home-grown herbs, but self-catering is also an option. Bastion Farm Kitchen has all the conveniences to make your stay pleasurable. It is very well equipped for self-catering with a stove, a fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, a washing machine, crockery, cutlery and braai equipment. The kitchen is available to all the guests, free of charge and can comfortably seat eight people. It even has a Dover stove to warm up cold winter evenings. Promoting a wholesome family lifestyle, you will find the only TV on the premises is in the Bastion Farm Kitchen, with a full DStv bouquet.

Bastion Farmyard now also hosts the Bastion Farm Stall & Coffee Shop. Here you can buy gifts, décor, coffee, cake, braai packs, wood and ice. It has fully licensed bar facilities. It is not only a shop, but an experience! Home cooked farm dinners are also available on request, but pre-bookings are essential.

If you cannot leave your business behind, email and internet services as well as photo copy and scanning services are available at Bastion Internet Café. Guests can also have free wireless Internet access in the rooms.

Bastion Farmyard Camp Site offers four spacious camping units. Each unit has its own flush toilet, a hot and cold shower, a wash basin, a kitchen wash-up facility, lights, a barbecue and a shaded paved veranda. Each unit can accommodate a maximum of six people. There is a large area where you can set up your tent or park your camp. The units do not have electricity, we do however cater for special electrical needs at the reception. Your own camping gear is required.
