The "Best of the Best"
JOHN JENKERSON, South Africa - Sunday, 13 September 2015
Five Star facilities for campers. Never before have we seen hand soap, hand cream and toilet spray (in an open air toilet) and a lock-up facility for all your extras. Truly an amazing place.
As for the Hosts (including their daughter who was home from varsity), absolutely wonderful and generous people. You are greeted with an interesting key holder/key ring, a box of matches, a bucket of dry wood and a wax 'bomb' which is used to light the donkey at a time convenient to yourself. Their little gift and souvenir shop was awesome. Good Luck.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bastion Farmyard. The facilities were clean and comfortable and the dining room with its quaint relics of the past brought back many memories. We'd definitely visit again!

Bastion Farmyard has everything the weary traveler needs: friendly hosts, a cozy kitchen, a warm bath and a comfortable bed.  This stop-over made the whole day's journey worthwhile.
What a wonderful gem of a place
Tjaart van der Walt, South Africa - Wednesday, 08 July 2015
WOW what a wonderful experience when we arrived at Bastion Farmyard.
We arrived after the normal check-in time, but she (the owner) was so friendly and met us at our room.
She showed us around and was willing to open the little shop they have on the property for in case we needed anything.
Bastion Farmyard is really a little gem in the desert. It is beautiful and well maintained.
We will definitely recommend Bastion to anyone that visits Marienthal.
Thank you Bastion Farmyard for a very nice experience and wonderful soft and cozy beds.

'n Juweel in Mariental!
Lucille Groenewald, South Africa - Wednesday, 17 June 2015

Very good!
Rene Hechter, South Africa - Saturday, 23 May 2015
Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen. Good value for money, highly recommended.
Camping in comfort at Bastion
Lyn Daly, South Africa - Wednesday, 15 April 2015
We arrived on Sun 29 Mar and were shown to the very nicely set up campsite. Each extremely neat site had its own kitchen/ablution block with lovely decorations around the mirrors and toilet holders, and a large shaded patio. Lots of (decorative) hooks for clothing - not often thought of by hosts. If you have a two-person tent there is not a lot of ground on which to pitch it within the fenced enclosure. But otherwise a vey well appointed site. Civilised camping - what a pleasure. We were just surprised that the farm shop was closed on a Sun, but the owner did say to call if we needed anything in it, and they would send someone to open up. If there were more guests at the time we were there, it would be a lovely place to gather for a chat. Overall, we would definitely recommend camping here.
Very pleasant stay
Ernst-Guenter Mentzel, South Africa - Friday, 03 April 2015
Ourselves and our friends from Germany had a lovely stay for one night. The rooms were as  requested at booking stage including a braai for the tired travelers. Thank you for your hospitality and interesting surrounding details. Realy a gem!

A little juwel
Horst Butow, South Africa - Friday, 31 October 2014
What a pleasant surprise. A great overnight stay with a little tourist shop full of surprises. The breakfast was really nice and we could see that the camping sites are also of a very high standard. What a lovely host. Thanks, we will come again.
Jewel
Van Eeden Innes, South Africa - Saturday, 20 September 2014
For us the jewel of Southern Namibia. What a nice place to stay. Farm style hospitality at it's best. From the moment you enter the gate to the premises you feel at ease. Well furnished rooms with air - condition, fantastic breakfast area and a curious shop where my wife spend a few bucks. Salome and her staff ensured that our stay was one to remember. Innes & Charlotta van Eeden.

Loretta van Eeden, South Africa - Monday, 06 January 2014
Clean and comfortable accommodation. All you can ask for after a dusty, hot trip through Namibia. Super friendly hostess, very well-equipped kitchen which really was like home-away-from-home and a good breakfast the next morning before tackling the heat again! The farmyard is full of quirky treasures - we loved it.
Loved it!
Briony Kramer, South Africa - Monday, 02 December 2013
This place was gorgeous. Felt so comfortable and slept so well. The best was the little attached coffee shop with the yummy coffee and baked goods!
An oasis in dry and dusty Namibia
Marion Bowden, South Africa - Wednesday, 18 September 2013
It was a real tonic after the long drive from Swakopmund. Green grass and birds in the trees gave us strength for the long drive next day. Hostess was helpful and friendly. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The communal kitchen was so well set up that we wished were staying longer just to make use of it.
Overall excellent standard!
Cobus Ackermann, South Africa - Wednesday, 17 July 2013
Everything that we found and experieced at Bastion was on a good standard. From the friendly reception, well decorated and neat rooms and bathrooms, dinner and breakfast was a pleasurable experience. The breakfast was probably the highlight of our stay, although there was absolutely nothing lacking with the accommodation, etc. Bastion has a great atmosphere, with well though interesting decorations inside and outside.
Amazing
margaret marks, South Africa - Monday, 15 July 2013
This was our second stay at bastion in 3 years and the standard has not faltered at all. Spotlessly clean. Very well equipped. Will go back every time we are en route to North Namibia.
Sleep-over at Bastion
Erika Swart, South Africa - Sunday, 02 June 2013
We had an excellent time at Bastion. The directions to get there was easy to follow. Beautiful and obviously well managed farm with lovely guest facilities. Free Wi-Fi very welcome bonus. 10/10 for Bastion!
A very interesting stay
Mike Smith, South Africa - Wednesday, 22 May 2013
Unfortunately when we arrived there was no one to meet us and as we did not have a Namibian cell phone we were unable to contact the manager who apparently lived about 25 kms away. The place is very neat and has many interesting decor items. The manager, when we met her, was very pleasant and helpful.
Home from home in the platteland
Clive Basson, South Africa - Monday, 22 April 2013
An overnight stay on the way from Waterberg to Mata-Mata after a long trip was just what we needed. Warm, friendly reception, excellent facilities and freedom from uneccesary interference made the short stay a memorable experience. Thanks to Anya, Simone and Deon for their hospitality - a strong recommendation to all travelling in this area. Baie dankie.
Pleasant

Bastion Farmyard B&B is just the place you want to lay your head of a long drive in the heat of Namibia. The management and staff were absolutely delightful, helpful and welcoming. With air-conditioning, wifi, hot showers (or bath), comfortable bed, well-equipped rooms, ice-cold refreshments and a wonderful breakfast, Bastion is hard to beat. Would absolutely recommend it.
Comfortable
Helen Licata, Italy - Tuesday, 28 August 2012
We had a brief and comfortable stay at Bastian's: lovely comfortable rooms, wi-fi, delicious full breakfast and lovely garden. Small coffee shop with homemade biscuits and jam for sale - which we took advantage of! Recommended to anyone travelling up to or from Windhoek.

A gem just outside Mariental: excellent facilities and well equiped kitchen and braai area. We preferred to self-cater and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Thank you for the hospitality.
Die beste
Johan Koortzen, South Africa - Friday, 13 July 2012
Splendid

Outstanding accommodation
Elsabe Liebenberg, South Africa - Friday, 04 May 2012
Excellent setting with very well equipped room and amenities. Kitchen well equiped. Hosts Salome and Deon and assistant Anja went out of their way to let us feel comfortable and enjoy our stay. This is one of the best B&B's visited during our recent visit to Namibia. We truly wish we could stay another night - sitting on the stoep having a sundowner with dusk setting in was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend Bastion near Mariental to anyone en route to Windhoek or visiting Namibia.
Good value

Welcoming hosts
Alain & Lone Dagut, South Africa - Wednesday, 14 March 2012
We were unfortunate to be there at the same time as a group of fishermen who were partying till midnight.....hence a very bad night. The host very welcoming and we would stay there again without the noisy guests.

Wonderful and friendly reception. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean. The showers are a bit slippery though. The kitchen is great! Love the homely feeling. The little gift shop is a fabulous treat. We will visit again.
Fantastic place to stay
frances martin, South Africa - Wednesday, 26 October 2011
We loved the whole place. It is so well set out with quirky wall decorations on the outside, great old farm implements, lovely plants and trees in attractive gravel settings - a great deal of work has gone into making the farmyard attractive. Inside the room was comfortable and the comunal kitchen well equipped.

A pleasant surprise!
Anne-Marie Pretorius, South Africa - Monday, 11 July 2011
This was one of the best places I have ever stayed at! It was so much more than what was expected and we were pleasantly surprised to find absolutely everything we needed right there! The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable, the surrounding area clean and neat with lots of quirky, interesting things to find all over the yard. As it was very cold we were pleased to find an indoor braai in the kitchen and we had an interesting evening chatting to the other guests as the kitchen is shared by all staying there. Our breakfast was excellent, served by Salome herself and her husband. I can recommend Bastion to anybody travelling in Namibia. It is luxury accommodation at a very affordable price!
