eMakhosini Hideaway
Deep in the heart of the unspoilt Zulu Kingdom, lies the eMakhosini Valley known as “Valley of the Kings". It is here where many early Zulu kings lie buried. This area is the cradle of Zulu history.

Emakhosini Hideaway is tucked away in the "Valley of the Kings", located 4 km from umGungundlovo on a private game farm that forms part of the Mkhumbane Game Ranch. There is a difference of about 280 m in altitude between the highest and lowest points on the farm. This gives rise to a rich diversity and interesting mix of fauna and flora.

The cottage is eco-friendly, built with natural stone collected on the farm, and is solar powered. It boasts a private lapa/boma area, a spacious, sunny deck overlooking a farm dam and panoramic views of the historic eMakhosini Valley. A lot has been done to make this cottage a well equipped and peaceful home from home. The cottage sleeps up to four people with one bedroom and en-suite bathroom and two single beds in the open-plan lounge area. On special request additional guests can camp or sleep on the front covered verandah or around the fire in the boma, weather permitting - an experience not to be missed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, and hot and cold running water, a kettle and cutlery and crockery for six people. Gas is used for cooking on a two-plate gas stove. Solar panel lights and a solar geyser is available for warm water. Paraffin lamps are used to enhance the bush atmosphere around the boma area at night for a real bushveld experience.

Game and scenic drives are available on request. The closest shop is in Ulundi, 30 km away. Petrol stations, a Pick ‘n Pay Supermarket, a Shoprite, a Spar, a liquor store, KFC and Nando's are all 40 km away. This is a low risk malaria, please consult your doctor.
