No romance
Albie Kruger, South Africa - 28 January 2013
We stayed over at the House Higgo the past week end.The exterior of the house is impressive and the gardens very well kept and beautiful. We were allocated the Honeymoon suite, but this was a bit disappointing. The room was extremely hot -- no aircon! The tiolet was dripping through the night and the waste of the basin didnt work properly. There was no flat sheet on the bed, only the duvet which made it quite uncomfortable. The mattress needs replacement and some blinds or inner curtains for privacy are recommended. The outside light on the stoep burned the entire night and unfortunately we will not return to this establishment.
Our anniversary night

We received a warm welcome. The rooms and garden were beautiful, perfect for any romantic getaway. Dinner was tasteful and breakfast was excellent. The honeymoon suite accommodation was of high standard and the bathroom was the highlight. Many thanks.

I did enjoy my stay. I have already recommended it to my friends. Thank you so much for making me feel at home away from home.

The best establishment Johannesburg has to offer!
Luisa Bell, South Africa - 25 May 2008
We travel to Johannesburg on a regular basis and have never found the perfect establishment. Until now, that is. Upon our arrival in Johannesburg we were contacted as a courtesy call to enquire of our arrival time, upon arrival, rose petals and chocolates greeted us with a spacious and well decorated room with our own personal balcony. The service was impeccable with all our needs met. Breakfast in the mornings was beautifully presented and refreshing different from a 5-star Hotel. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there and perhaps a 5-star would be recommended for this establishment.

House Higgo
Bearing the proud crest of the Higgo Family, this exclusive corporate boutique hotel redefines luxury accommodation and conferencing in the northern suburb of Northcliff, Johannesburg. The Higgo’s came to South Africa from Penzance in Cornwall in 1850. They landed in Cape Town, where they stayed in the area now known as Higgovale, as well as on the land on which the Groote Schuur Hospital is built.

Reginald Douglas Higgo, a World War 2 veteran who resided in House Higgo, was born in 1919 on Robben Island in Cape Town. Robben Island was where Reginald’s father was the resident engineer for the light house. In those days, Robben Island was not yet a prison and the leper colony had already moved off the island.

All the rooms and suites in House Higgo have been named after a village or town in Cornwall that played a significant role in the Higgo history. Arriving at this magnificent home away from home, you will find elegant and discreet service to satisfy the most discerning of tastes.

Fully trained staff ensures that guests' every need will be attended to in a prudent and professional manner. This architecturally designed house, tucked into Aasvoelkop Ridge, boasts magnificent views over the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, stretching all the way to the Magaliesberg mountain range.

House Higgo is also the ideal venue for hosting romantic weddings, formal banquets, charity or product launches, cocktail parties, dinner parties, birthdays and anniversaries requiring flair and elegance.
