A sturdy old place with lots of character, and a must experience for any person who loves the older things in life. I certainly enjoyed my stay and would certainly make a return visit.

This is a wonderful and friendly guest house. The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Hot breakfast was great, and the accommodation was superb.

Great accommodation, including a wonderful hot, buffet breakfast. Reception by owner and staff very welcoming. Location is suited for walking around Grahamstown.

High Corner Guest House
Situated in upper High Street, High Corner is within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants and coffee shops, Rhodes University, the High Court, museums and businesses. Enjoy unpretentious hospitality in this meticulously restored, historical home which comprises the oldest cottage in Grahamstown (built in 1814) and was formerly home to District Surgeon Dr John Atherston as well as author, poet and playwright Professor Guy Butler. The Guest House boasts a yellow wood staircase and floors, original oregon pine panelling, high ceilings and generous rooms graced with Cape antiques and original art. Accommodation is provided in six beautifully furnished bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and, not forgetting modern comforts, heated towel rails, air conditioning, satellite television, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers and digital safes. Guests have use of the elegant lounge, vine-covered patio and salt water swimming pool, on-site beauty clinic (by appointment only) and secure off-street parking behind beautiful old stone walls. Laundry facilities on request. Children welcome by arrangement. Internet access
