Our Stay at Oaklands Lodge
Penuel Mpanza, South Africa - 28 September 2015

Oaklands Lodge was quiet and peaceful. My problem with the place was that it had lots of cats, which resulted in my car having paw prints on the windscreen and bonnet top. I had to constantly clean the convertible roof because of the cat hairs.

I also had to argue with the old man in charge of the place because of something as petty as soap for the room. There was no soap and he insisted that "self catering" units only get soap on the 1st day as courtesy.

Great view

We had the upper unit and a wonderful view, others were not so fortunate. Directions for getting there are confusing but we were able to get within shouting distance after following M7 through many turns. The cleaning people were great and very helpful. Swimming in the ocean isn't safe unless you go to Brighton Beach 2 km away where the surf is good and there are lifeguards; you can walk by beach. We enjoyed our stay. No wi-fi, which would have been helpful. The walk to the beach is easier for kids but us old timers got used to it. Overall, a comfortable stay (5 days) and worth the cost.

Great place to stay and the Lodge owners are very friendly and accomodating. Will definitely go back there again.

The place was good and we enjoyed our stay. The only thing that I think they should consider is to improve on the directing to the lodge, we were lost for about four hours looking for place; at least a sign somewhere at the BP garage that shows the direction. Again, the place is very nice for the price and it's clean. We liked it.
