We loved the friendliness and commitment of the staff at this establishment . The manager, restaurant and cleaning staff were all very eager to satisfy any requests that were asked of them.

5 star in every aspect of the word. I mean where do they phone you when you are on you way to take your food order? That means eat on arrival and after a 6 hour grueling trip in the dark that sure takes the weight off reality! Service was great on all levels and not to for the Hatchery to take all the credit - God is the Almighty Creator, but the nature and views SUPERB MAJESTIC WONDERFUL! Be back to see all our newly made friends soon. Thank you Hatchery for good value getaway.

The Old Hatchery is a tranquil place. The view is beautiful. The staff were friendly. The accommodation is lovely. My little fishing cabin had everything I needed. The restaurant food was good value for money & very tasty. I will go back there any time. 

We had a very pleasant stay at The Old Hatchery (Oak Tree Lodge). The reception was hearty and we had everything we needed. The food was  tasty and the service good. The vicinity was very attractive, especially when the sun shone.

As returning customers we enjoyed our stay again.
The restaurant had a superb meal, great chef and excellent staff.

We had a pleasant stay. They could accommodate us in a room with the bed specifications we had. The rooms are clean.

Conveniently positioned just off main road yet in the country. Clean comfortable, reasonably priced good food. Great spot for a stopover.

A very pretty place with comfortable cottages and we enjoyed a good meal in the restaurant, loved the curtains!

We enjoyed the freedom to walk and the quietness of every day. The views are beautiful and the management have been superb in welcoming us and making us comfortable.

We stayed here for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our little fishing cabin and log fire. We loved the sense of being apart from the main building and the other cabins. We self-catered for much of the time but ate a couple of delicious meals at the restaurant. It would not be a good option for people with mobility issues though, because you have to walk along several hundred metres of wooden walkway and steps to get to the car park and main building. It also gets slippery when there is frost and snow. But, on the whole, it was a lovely quiet break.

Lovely venue, very clean, good food, superb hosts, would recommend, and will be back.

We had a great night stay over at the Old Hatchery. The owners were very welcoming and the staff were friendly and efficient. It creates a very cosy family atmosphere where one is relaxed and at home. My wife and I would love to visit again for longer next time and we will highly recomend it to firnds and family. Oh by the way the meals were fantastic...compliments to the chef :-)

We had an amazing time at the Old Hatchery, the rooms are beautiful and the hosts are friendly and welcoming, service is excellent. Had an opportunity to do the Sani Pass tour which was breath taking. We will be visiting The Old Hatchery again in the near future.

Comfortable accommodation, would like to see: More shelving in bathrooms, confusing restaurant opening times. Staff and management very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a Fishermans Cabin. It is basic, but clean, comfortable and very peaceful. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant. Staff are very friendly.

What an awesome place to stay! We really felt welcome and enjoyed our stay. The food is brilliant, specially the mint lamb chops.

Very clean and large accommodation - very up to date. The food was excellent, and we can honestly say it has been a long time since we have had food of that quality - thanks to the chef.

Very beautiful surroundings & very peaceful. We enjoyed the restaurant on the premise and the staff were very friendly. It is a great place to base yourself to explore the underberg!

We arrived at 9 PM after nine hours spent in the car. As we arrived we were warmly welcomed and seated to a nice warm meal and friendly faces. The service was brilliant and the scenery beautiful!

The surroundings were tranquil and beautiful. The peace and fresh air was what we needed to refresh us for a new week. The country experience was awesome and The Old Hatchery is a perfect getaway spot.

When last can you say that something was better than expected? This last weekend was, thanks to they guys at the Old Hatchery. We'll see you again.

This is a quaint little farm with a lovely dam and a small waterfall and situated in the most beautiful area of the Southern Drakensberg. I stayed in the studio cottage which was adequate and had a small kitchen with all the equipment needed. The cottage was serviced, although the owner had forgotten to inform her staff that I was arriving and being the only resident on the farm, it did feel a little bleak. However, it is comfortable, close to shops in Underberg and there is a lot to do in the area. Highly recommended area for visiting.

Our few days stay at Ridgedale was fantastic. Even though we timed our stay during a very rainy, misty few days - it just added to the magic of the area, and having a fireplace in our room made it that much more special. The fishing was great and Ron and Dawn are an amazing couple and we just wish we had more time to have spent with them and also to experience the beauty of the area. Breeza the jack russel was always there with a welcome and loved to venture with us on fishing expeditions to the well stocked dam. We wouldn't hesitate to return and will most certainly be back when we are in the country again.

Thanks to all at Ridgedale - a great relaxing evening before our long SANI2C mountain bike ride. Great place and i hope to be able to stay there next year again.
