Very very nice, the staff there went the extra mile to make things as romantic as possible for us. Honeymoon suite is amazing with the Jacuzzi on the private deck. Food was excellent with good taste and flavour. We will be back pretty soon.

Esikhotheni Lodge
Esikhotheni, meaning “in the sticks” is easily accessible off the N2, 3 hours north of Durban. This owner managed 4 star lodge forms part of the Greater Pongola Reserve and offers guests the quiet seclude of the African bush with modern conveniences to make your stay extremely comfortable.

Accommodation is offered in 7 en suite chalets all privately situated with private patios and magnificent views of the Jozini Lake. The bathrooms are very special with large showers and raised oval baths with clear views of the lake. The 7th chalet is designed with the more romantic in mind, with a private Jacuzzi set on the extended deck in the bush. The chalets all have air-conditioning, mini bar with tea & coffee making facilities. Each chalet has luxurious bath essences, lotions etc for your pleasure & comfort, hairdryers and mini-safe for safe keeping of personal items, money etc.

For the avid bird watcher, this is paradise, with the vast ecological diversity lending itself to a broad spectrum of the feathered species that can be sighted. With the presence of the lake adding a different dimension to activities on this game reserve, daily itineraries are tailor made to suit guests preferences. With an array of activities to choose from - traditional morning and evening game drives, quad biking, lake safaris, fishing, canoeing and quad bike safaris. The WWF have recently leased 3 black rhinos in Esikhotheni’s care as part of their ongoing project to protect this species from extinction.

Dining at Esikhotheni is a indulgence. Long lazy breakfasts, and delectable elegant dinners are the order of the day - all carefully prepared and beautifully presented by the resident chef. Meals are either served in the traditional boma or in the lodge. Each afternoon guests enjoy scrumptious “high-tea” – a selection of mouth watering sweet and savoury treats before embarking on the sunset activities.
