Friendliness and helpfulness of staff.

The staff are generally friendly and helpful. The staff in the restaurant are neat and serve the most delicious cappuccino's. A peaceful farm atmosphere reigns over the premises.

The bottle of red wine on arrival was a nice surprise. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Conveniently situated, relatively close to a lot of activities.
UNIMPRESSED
Tanya Olsen - Monday, 18 February 2019
For what we paid it felt that we were non-existant. We were told that a key would be left in a postbox for us. Room had a very strong smell of wood fire. I have travelled extensively all over the world and can honestly say it was the worst shower of my life. No toilet roll holder even on the wall. Was supposed to be "bed and breakfast", but we discovered on arrival that we had to go into the town to a restaurant called Coffee and Cream for breakfast as the restaurant at the establishment is no longer operational. The experience at the restaurant we were sent to was disgusting - the food was terrible, the service was very poor, the waitress VERY unfriendly! For what we paid (R1 310.00) just to sleep and a shocking breakfast - a very sad experience indeed. I can only BEGIN to imagine what tourists from overseas must think!!
Comfortable

Rated lower due to lack of communication. Didn't find management very forthcoming. Initially told that the dining room was closed for breakfast on Mondays and we could have something in the room but no filter coffee. No further discussion but were then told that the dining room would be open for us!
Blissful

It is a place of beauty, tranquility where one can truly relax. The rooms are spacious, meticulously clean. The restaurant is great; food, service and location is superb. Could not have wished for anything more.

Bath not working, very slow dis-interested response and no feedback initially. Showerhead broken but working, carpet very bad burns in it, kettle very dirty and room stank of cleaning fluids. Restaurant only offering breakfast, no other meals. General feeling of not being managed/maintained properly. Staff did arrange an early breakfast for a group which was good of them, gardens and pool area very nice.
Lovely romantic weekend

The staff were wonderful, full of smiles and jokes. The pastries on the breakfast buffet were to die for! The rooms were comfortable and warm, an open fireplace and a bottle of red wine set the ambience for a lovely romantic weekend. Thank you.

Schön gelegen. Wir wohnten im Cottage. Das Bad müßte mal überarbeitet werden. Beautifully convenient. We lived in cottage.
Wondeful stay

We had a wonderful stay at Hunters Retreat. Tanja and Jeremy were charming and helpful. The accommodation was simple but excellent value for money. We were delighted with Tulbagh and wished we had booked for a couple of extra nights.

Well I must say that I enjoyed my stay at the Hunters Retreat Guest Farm. It is just so amazingly beautiful. Everything about that place makes you want to come back. I most definately would like to go back there and enjoy the peace and quietness of the place. Their service is also pleasing and the breakfast was good. So basically what I'm trying to say is 'I enjoyed my stay at the Hunters Retreat Guest Farm'.
