My wife, daughter and I stayed for 3 nights. The room was clean and very pleasant. 2 minute walk from the airport, but no noise at all, which we were very surprised by. The 5 minute drive to the beach was perfect.

This is a reasonable priced guest house that I would make use of again and recommend to others.

Everything was comfortable. Small details are important and in this day and age of convenience one would expect decent coffee /plunger and fresh milk and not cheap coffee and creamer Some rusks or biscuits would have also added a nice touch. it doesnt cost much, but makes a difference

De kamer was redelijk. Je kunt er zelfs een maaltijd klaarmaken. De gastvrouw was niet erg gastvrij en interesseerde zich nauwelijks voor ons. Het ontbijt is niet inbegrepen. Toen we haar vroegen om een ontbijt waarvoor dus extra moet worden betaald, adviseerde ze ons om naar een restaurant aan de kunst te gaan.

The room was reasonable. You can even prepare a meal. The hostess very welcoming and interested in us. Breakfast is not included. When we asked her for breakfast, they advised us to go to a restaurant on the coast.
That was a great advice!

I had great stay. The guest house is conviniently located to everything. We had a great time, the service was absolutely amazing and the place is so clean and comfortable. We had our own private space and it felt like home.

We were rushed as we vacated the room by 10:05am. It was like we had delayed our departure. The maid was already in the room and taking the linen at 10am!

5 Third Ave Guest House is one of the cleanest guest houses I have used in a long time. The rooms by the pool are fantastic: the room is spacious and well equipped. The bathroom/shower is a bit small. The host really does a great job ensuring good housekeeping and keeping the guests quiet after 22:00 - Much appreciated and will visit again.

I love staying here when I visit PE on business. It is clean, clean, clean and very comfortable. Roz is very friendly, yet professional. You enjoy privacy and have a small kitchenette which is handy if you prefer sorting out your meals and breakfast yourself. (There is a restaurant next door and others very close by).

The double rooms around the pool are excellent value for money with comfortable beds, a small kitchenette and a tiny bathroom. Small touches like soap in the showers were missing but everything was clean and neat.
The family unit was very cramped with seriously creaky doors, older furnishings and some mould in the shower. As there is no bath it isnt actually suitable for a family with young children.
The Guest House was easy to find, centrally located and it was overall a good stay.

Staying at the place was very nice and I will make use of it if I have to go to PE again. The only negative comment is that the bathroom of my room was very small.

My partner and i stayed at 5th Third Avenue Guest house in Port Elizabeth, what a wonderful surprise it was to be met and greeted in such a warm way on arrival, something rarely experienced elsewhere. We were escorted to our room which was a picture of cleanliness, white duvets, towels and a chocolate as well!! Many thanx we will surely stay there again and also recommend to others to do the same.

We stayed a solitary night at 5 Third Avenue Guest House in a simple clean room into which an extra bed had been placed (we were a party of three). The room was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, and we all slept well. It seems most of the rooms are arranged around the pool and it resembles a small, tidy, attractive motel. The location is not picturesque, however, but its perfect for the business person needing something close to the airport. The airport is literally within walking distance, which I imagined might be a problem, however there was no noise from planes. We didnt try the pool, but it looked relaxing, and the owner, Rochelle, generously accepted a load of dirty laundry we needed clean. Overall, we were happy to have found this guesthouse and were very satisfied. Next time, I might even spring for two rooms.

I needed a bed for the night close to Port Elizabeth Airport and this location was excellent. There was no problem finding the place and the reception was warm and friendly. The pool and design was interesting though I had no time to indulge!

Very good accommodation / facilities

We arrived at the 5 Third Avenue Guest House late in the evening (~21:30) after a flight from Johannesburg and left early in the morning (~8:00). The guest house location was great for us since it was close to airport (5 min) and we still didn't hear any airplanes noise. The room was clean and tidy with bathroom inside. The owners were really nice and even drove us to the airport by their car in the morning without extra payment.

As we were from Joburg we found the place to be quiet, exactly what we were looking for, to cool down and take it easy in the "windy city". We really had a fab time, absolutely fabulous... Hope to go back there again i the near future....

We stayed one night at the end of a 19 day trip to South Africa from the UK. Rozelle, the owner, was very helpful in emailing detailed directions and a map so we had no trouble finding the accommodation. The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped - and practically walking distance from PE airport. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the accommodation. The Zebra restaurant, just next door, is also very pleasant and equally good value. Recommended.

I recently had the privilege of staying at 5 Third Ave Guest House and was really blown away by Rozelle and her friendly efficient staff. The room was spotless, bedding & towels clean & soft, there was tea & coffee for our use. Rozelle was welcoming and clearly nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast in the morning was eaten at the poolside and was extremely delicious, home-cooked food. All in all it was a memorable & enjoyable experience. I will most certainly visit again when I am in PE.

My husband and I visited our grandparents in Walmer recently and stayed over at 5 Third Avenue ... what a pleasant stay! Our establishment for the weekend was very neat and clean and we could smell the fresh fragrance of the clean white linen and towels. Our room was cleaned daily and our towels were replaced with clean ones each day. The Kitchenette is very well equipped and everything is in good working condition. The Guest House is situated in a safe and quiet environment and my husband, who travels frequently to the Eastern Cape for business, would make this his permanent stay-over in future. 5 Third Avenues tariffs are also very reasonable. Thank you Rozelle and team for your hospitality and making our stay a memorable one!

I selected this establishment from the internet because its prices were competitive and it was near to the old part of PE. The place surpassed my expectations in its pleasant style inside the room which was tastefully decorated and not ostentatious. Outside too it was pleasant with a feel of South Africa about it. The plumbing was a bit strange, with the shower spluttering alarmingly. The cleaning was excellent and discreetly done and the management were friendly, low-key but available. At night it was wonderfully quiet despite being close to main roads. Thank you. I will recommend the place.

Arrived from PE with a friendly greeting and quick and efficient check in. Expectations were met and the Zebra Restaurant next door provided the food and beer that was required. With there only being a one minute drive to the airport, the location was ideal (and no - there are know problems with any residual noise from flights). I would recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Guest House. I found Rozelle very friendly, accommodating and available (even on the sunday when I lost my key!). It was perfectly suited to my needs. The swimming pool was great as the weather was so hot during my stay! The guest house was well located with quick and easy access to the airport, beachfront and other areas of Walmer.

Clean and comfortable, great value for money

We had a very peaceful stay. Ruzaan is very friendly. Our room were very clean and had every thing we needed. A little clock radio would have been a bonus!

The guesthouse was comfortable and well-furnished with very good self-catering facilities. The rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard, and the pool and braai area were above average. The location is really excellent as well, being very close to the airport (although the planes caused no disturbance) and a quick trip into Walmer, the beachfront and town, as well as the N2. Only disappointment was not being able to connect to the free Wi-Fi, although it is possible that this may have been due to our laptop.

The location of the guest house is very central and the owner very nice and helpful. It was unfortunate that we had noisy early morning guests for neighbours but would certainly stay there again.

Accommodation was satisfactory. Whilst it was not top quality, it was more than suitable for our needs. The value for money was excellent, as it was an inexpensive part of the whole weekend. We ran away from the fast pace of Johannesburg looking for peace and quietness along the sea. What we experienced at 5 Third Avenue Guest House was ultimate peace in a busy city like Port Elizabeth.

The host, Rozelle was helpful and non-intrusive. The place itself had all that we needed to set up a home away from home without breaking the piggy bank. The cost to us was far below what we had budgeted for our one week stay.

When I first saw the prices I thought the guest house was way sub-standard. But all our expectations were over-turned. Great place to take it easy in a friendly city! Wished we could have stayed longer.

Good place to stay and good value for money. Clean and tidy and all one needs for self catering are available. It is also close to restaurants and so makes a good stay for business visits to Port Elizabeth. Suggest that a hairdryer be made available in the room.

Our Group of 18 were very pleased with our choice and the hospitality shown by Edmar and Rozella was outstanding. I would rate this establishment with 4 *if they provided a full breakfast on a regular basis, to be available on their tariffs, but regardless of this we were shown 5* treatment with the terrible cold and wet weather down in P.E. the past week.

The place is private, central and on the airports doorstep. There is a great - Zebra Bistro next door that has fabulous food at a very reasonable price.

The guesthouse if exceptionally clean & well-maintained. Staff are friendly too. It is a good stop for an overnight stay since it is very convenient (300 m from the airport). Unfortunately this does also mean you hear the sound of the aeroplanes which may affect light sleepers. But the rooms are set around a sparkling pool, which is very restful. It is self-catering only (the kitchenettes are equipped) so make sure you bring your own supplies for breakfast.

This is the ideal place to stay when having to be close to the PE Airport. Edmar and his staff are friendly and very accommodating regarding departure times. The information booklet in our unit regarding shops and things to do in the area was of a great help. Thanks to Edmar and staff!

Upon arriving in PE I was a little sceptical about this venue. Arrived in the rain. Drove up the driveway and was welcomed by a note. Opened gate and drove up... and surprise you walk into the photograph on the web....stunning.

The rooms are warm and welcoming. The owner and staff are friendly and assist with whatever is required if not right away, as soon as was humanly possible.

The pool is clean and just the right thing on a hot afternoon.... ask the kids they enjoyed it. The braai area is extremely clean. Games room looks great. Didn’t get the chance to use it... but looks great.

My stay was really pleasant considering I have two young children who are considerably loud and busy...

I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a great holiday experience.

Close to all major attractions Port Elizabeth can provide and easy access to air and road terminals or arteries. Absolute value for money self-catering room with the next-door Zebra restaurant to provide anything from breakfast, lunch or dinner at bargain prices.

The establishment is in immaculate condition, with everything a person would need to have a pleasant stay. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. The play room with pool table came in very handy for the children. The Guest House itself is situated near the airport, and especially in our case near the UPE. It is also situated in a beautiful and quite suburb. The friendliness that we received is more than what words can describe, and what makes this Guest house so special is the fact that the restaurant is just right next door to it. This is really great. The staff was friendly and helpful when we needed them; however our privacy was respected, which was appreciated. The rooms and guest house grounds were clean and neat. Extra mural activities (e.g. swimming pool, pool table, braai areas, swing ball) were present at the guest house, and a detailed book of attractions in the area was available, indicating restaurants, menus and entertainment.

I would definitely stay at the Guest House again when in Port Elizabeth.

Location very convenient and had an enjoyable stay.

The accommodation was suitable for our requirements. Sufficient for a one night stay over. Shower/toilet a bit small but fine. Arrived after seven in the evening and enjoyed the entertainment area where we had a fire going and swam.

Having the opportunity of traveling the country doing various projects, I was happy to return to Port Elizabeth and stay at 5 Third Avenue Guesthouse. The owners go out of their way to satisfy the customer at all expenses. I will definitely return to the hospitable guesthouse as I know that it’s a home - away from home.

Home Sweet Home because we were so relaxed. The welcome was exellent we felt very free & not restricted in any way. I can have a five roomed guest house or just a room , what counts for me is the first impression which is the lasting impression.

The unit itself was clean & fresh everything was up to standard. The rooms are idealy situated around the entertainment area. The actual place of situation is very tranquil,peaceful though close to all amenities. This is very convenient for shopping , eating out or just relaxing on the beach.

I will definetly recommend my family & friends. Trust you keep up the excellent manner towards your guests.

A very pleasant stay in a basic but comfortable establishment. My family of 5 booked 2 rooms which was well worth the price for our short stay in Port Elizabeth.

The personal service by the owner was also appreciated.

Very warm Home away from home.

The self catering accommodation at 5th 3rd Avenue, Walmer is really comfortable and clean. The floral smelling linen is lovely.
The beds are great and although the bathroom is a bit small, we were quite satisfied that we were getting value for money.
Our only objection was that it was very noisy, particularly with the rooms leading onto the pool. There were constantly kids playing in the pool or running around, which was not favourable on our relaxing weekend away. If you dont intend staying home during the day, this should not be an issue for you.

What a wonderful find! Jolena and her family were fabulous hosts. They made us feel so welcome; nothing was a problem. We felt we were house guests rather than paying guests.

They accommodated our two dogs and us in a superb unit away from other guests but close to all amenities.
The attention to detail and the luxury finishes in our room ensured we had a relaxed and comfortable 3 days in Bloemfontein.

We look forward to visiting them again on our next visit.

If its honest, homely, affordable, self-catering accommodation you are looking for, this is it. The rooms, while not luxurious, are clean and comfortable with a shower-on-suite. There is a swimming pool and braai/barbecue facilities for visitors. Its child friendly and close to ever thing one would want to see or do in Port Elizabeth. The owners were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again and I would recommend it to anyone who is on a budget.

Very good, the description of the locaction and what to expect there was no mis conceptions!!! Appreciated the touch of having been given some Tea and Coffee with milk after a long journey it was much enjoyed by the family.
