Nairobi, City of flavour - My visit to Nairobi was one that introduced a new meaning to the word hospitality. The people are friendly, the restaurants enchanting and different in offering. One can not help but be immersed in the different flavours Nairobi offers. The city is constantly alive and the energy there is contagious.

Chaotic, energetic, infectious - Nairobi is the kind of place that's hard to describe unless you've been there. It feels like a head-on collision between Africa and the West, a chaotic, cosmopolitan buffet of industry and poverty, which co-exist side by side beneath rapidly rising skyscrapers and dangling electric cables. It's a city currently experiencing growing pains, its streets unable to cater for the amount of business taking place alongside them, resulting in hair-tearing, soul-crushing traffic, which runs from 5am well into the night. But there's no way a small issue like traffic could deter the ever-optimistic 'Nairobites', who boast possibly the best work ethic I've ever experienced, going about their 12 hour days without ever letting the smiles leave their faces. And while the jam of the city centre can be claustrophobic, there are plenty of spots to seek refuge nearby. The Nairobi National Park, which sits right on the edge of the southern end of the city, is a sprawling, Acacia-lined reserve, which plays home to plenty of predators, including numerous lions. From the park, you can see the city's ever-growing skyline peeking up in the distance - perhaps this is the view that best defines this puzzling, pulsating city - a flourishing metropolis with its roots firmly in Africa.

The Nairobi experience - I traveled to Nairobi last year and had a great trip. I stayed at a hotel called the Southern Sun Mayfair which was super comfortable and hospitable. The people are friendly, the restaurants were bustling and our trip to the Nairobi National park was magical. I will be traveling again to Nairobi next week and will going there with an open heart.

Perfect gateway city - Bustling vibrant city with amazing restaurants and places to visit. Nairobi National Park is at its doorstep as well as the Daphne Sheldrik Elephant and Rhino Nursery to name a few. Perfect hub / gateway city for travel in East Africa!

Busy city, great for restaurants and visiting nature reserves - Nairobi is a very busy cosmopolitan city, and is a great place to base your exploration of Kenya. It has a lot of really good restaurants, and you can feel the growth and energy of Kenya's growing economy. It is also a great place to be based for visiting the nature reserves. Nairobi National Park is quite accessible without too much difficulty and you can visit and return to your hotel for dinner quite easily.
