Hacienda d'Monyane

To feed the soul, one needs lots of peace and nature. Tucked away in the Waterberg, approximately 90 minutes’ drive from Johannesburg, lies Hacienda d'Monyane; a small 21-hectare unspoilt bush lodge created for simple pleasure and enjoyment by romantic couples and real nature lovers. From the outset, it was our aim to establish something different. We are indeed fortunate that our guests approve of our efforts in creating a rustic yet stylish establishment.

Our establishment is ideally suited to those seeking absolute silence, tranquility and magnificent views. A comment from our visitors book describes Hacienda d'Monyane as an environment so beautiful and serene, unique and awesome. Although our little piece of paradise is not a game farm, some of the smaller species of antelope such as steenbok and duiker are regularly spotted. The resident warthog family is known to provide impromptu entertainment, such as the warthog derby or a round of mud wrestling. The local jackal duo can also be counted on to add a serenade or two. Our ruby sunsets and fields of stars have inspired many who had never thought of themselves as poets.

The lodge consists of the Livingstone and Hemmingway Suites, which are private and separate from the main house. The en-suite facilities include cement baths and enamel basins in the sleeping areas, with separate toilets and outdoor showers attached. For those guests with an adventurous side wanting to experience the bush in the style of early explorers, we offer the Tenthouse Suite, a luxury safari tent perpetuating traditions of an African safari. The tent has an en-suite bathroom and an outdoor shower. Each unit also has a veranda with amazing views of distant mountains and surrounding savannah.

Our sundeck and splash pool is the ideal spot for reading and cooling off, or just finding inspiration in the beauty and sounds of the bush. Our daily rate is inclusive of a superb breakfast served on the veranda of the main house, considered the most beautiful dining room in the area. By prior arrangement, we do serve either an optional romantic three-course dinner served on the veranda or the dining room, cast in a halo of a constellation of candles.
