Last Tango

There's nothing quite like waking up in a small town and sipping your first coffee on the stoep, with birdsong and the sound of frolicking vervet monkeys coming from the trees. Last Tango in Parys is a lovingly restored farm house located about 100 m from the river, and just three blocks away from the quaint main shopping street of this beautiful little Free State town. It is set in a beautiful garden that includes a small cycad nursery.

The house features a 20-metre long covered stoep, which is perfect for outdoor entertaining thanks to a rustic table that can seat up to 14 guests. In addition, there are two Weber braais, a comfortable patio set for lounging on, and even a hammock for those who really need to kick back and relax. The river is just a two-minute walk away.

Two of everything, twice as nice. Last Tango can sleep between two to eight guests, depending on how many couples are in your group. The per-person rate comes down considerably depending on the number of guests. The house features two bathrooms, both with showers, baths and toilets, and two living rooms, each with its own full bouquet dual-view DStv. This makes it perfect for grown-ups and children or teenagers staying together. We have all experienced the battle of the remote, especially during sports events.

The house even has two kitchens, hence its name Last Tango, as it really is unique and spot-on for friends who want to go away together but retain some privacy. We never let the house to two unrelated groups, as we believe that privacy is an integral part of a real getaway break.

The décor is eclectic. With touches of Art Deco and faux French, we take our town's name quite seriously. The beds in both main bedrooms are hotel quality, the linen 200-thread count percale. During the winter months, we keep you warm with mock fireplaces, wall heaters and electric blankets. During summer, we protect the main bedrooms with mosquito nets and all the other rooms with mosquito repellent devices. Small touches make the difference, with coffee, tea, milk and sugar supplied in the kitchen, filtered water in the fridge and welcome chocolates on your pillow.
