  • In keeping with the theme, the rustic and comfortable thatched chalets are built of local materials - wood, grass and reeds. Adding to the natural ambience, each chalet has a beautiful wooden deck which overlooks the river. All with en-suite bathroom with shower.
  • The view from the Zambezi of the Pub Deck © Copyright Kabula Lodge
  • All chalets are provided with linen and towels and are fully serviced. Kitchens which are equipped with gas refrigerators, gas cookers, tables, cutlery, crockery and basic cooking utensils are available for use by the residents of the chalets.
  • There is one 4 bed
  • Each chalet has its own private deck
  • The fully grassed Kabula campsites, situated beneath huge indigenous trees, are without question the best on the river. These are serviced by clean and well designed ablutions that consist of rondavels, each containing a separate toilet and shower.
  • Central to Kabula, and for use by all our guests, is the” pub deck” which towers over the river. Enjoy a drink from our well stocked bar as the sun sets over the Mighty Zambezi. This is what Africa is all about!
  • Kabula is situated on the Upper Zambezi which is regarded as the best part of the river for Tiger fishing. The tiger fish breed in the thousands of pools of the Liuwa floodplains and are flushed out each year by the floods. The best time for fishing at Kabula is from April to December when the water is warm and the level of the river is low before the start of the rainy season.
  • The famous and beautiful Ngonya (Sioma) Waterfalls of central Barotseland, Zambia which are situated within 60kms of Kabula, are rarely visited simply because of their remoteness. Fortunately their remoteness has resulted in them being totally free of the tourist trappings of their better known counterpart further downstream.

  • Facilities
Situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, Western Zambia Kabula Lodge has been specifically designed to provide affordable and truly comfortable holiday accommodation for families who love fishing, birding, the outdoors and who want to enjoy Africa at its pristine best.

In keeping with the theme, the rustic and comfortable thatched chalets are built of local materials - wood, grass and reeds. Adding to the natural ambiance, each chalet has a beautiful wooden deck which overlooks the river. All with en-suite bathroom with shower. The fully grassed Kabula campsites, situated beneath huge indigenous trees, are without question the best on the river. These are serviced by clean and well designed ablutions that consist of rondavels, each containing a separate toilet and shower.

The Lodge is located within Barotseland, the Lozi people’s mystical wetland region that the famous explorer David Livingstone explored so many years ago, Kabula Lodge provides the ideal holiday destination in a sparsely populated and relatively untouched region of Southern Africa where the magnificent indigenous forests are something to behold. The appeal of the Lodge has been further enhanced by its incorporation within the recently promulgated Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) which is situated in the Okavango and Zambezi river basins where the borders of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe converge. It will span an area of approximately 287 132 km, almost the size of Italy (300 979 km²), and will include 36 national parks, game reserves, community conservancies and game management areas.  This TFCA promises to be Southern Africa’s premier tourist destination with the largest contiguous population of the African elephant (approximately 250,000) in the continent.

1 Reviews on Kabula Lodge Western Zambia

This was our first Zambian and tiger fishing experience. We enjoyed it thoroughly, especially the days on the Zambezi and some successful fishing with grunting hippo's around us. The locals (west-Zambians) are friendly and not spoiled by too much tourism. The lodge is well kept and visitors are well received by the friendly staff. Our guide and boatman - Freddy - proved to be up to the task of leading us to the catch. No electricity - but that is excellent if you want an African experience. According to my research, the lodge is probably also the most affordable tiger fishing destination. Some pointers to other eventual visitors - have enough ZARands with you - it goes a long way in Zambia if you are not a Zambian. The same at the lodge. Next pointer - the road from Sesheke to the lodge definitely requires high ground clearance from your vehicle in the dry season and 4x4 capability in the wet season. If you travel via Namibia, you will have to stock up on eating and drinking needs in Katima. The steaks we bought there tested the teeth's ability to cut rubber - so be careful :-( The chicken flatty was excellent :-) Travelling via Kazangula, we recommend Livingstone to stock up.
