Description

Dreams of a secret jewel high up in the mountains become real at Tenahead.

In a remote region of South Africa where three mountain ranges meet, the Drakensberg, the Witteberg and the Maluti, lies a very special place where the hand of man has brushed it but lightly, beautiful San rock art being the only sign of its former inhabitants. Tenahead is 3 500 hectares of unspoilt mountains, valleys and streams. It holds a treasury of flora and fauna and it is the perfect place to experience another life.

A Nature Lover’s Eden, Tenahead is home to many antelope and smaller animals including lynx, jackals, rock rabbits, amphibians, reptiles and over 300 species of birds. The hills and valleys are a cornucopia of wild flowers and at night skies are spangled with millions of stars. Tenahead winters are crisp with snow blanketing the ground, summers fresh, with thunderstorms possible. Tenahead will reawaken a spirit inside you long made dormant by modern-living.

          17 February 2014

Our stay at Tenahead was much more than we had anticipated. Everyone from top management down were so helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all for a most enjoyable time.

          19 December 2013

A beautifully designed lodge, remotely situated and thrills getting there. Designed for tranquil times. We stayed two nights mid-journey, but it would make a special destination for, say, a week to read, walk, enjoy the scenery, perhaps work on a project. Warm people, atmosphere, log fires. Great for a private party but not if you about to party! Highly recommended.

          16 August 2013

One of the most stunning places on the planet! The lodge was absolutely beautiful and the service and food was outstanding. We will definitely return.

          08 January 2011

We unfortunately arrived late at night but the Lodge people were all ready and waiting. The atmosphere and location and service and food was excellent. Our compliments to all the staff. Planning already to go back.

          19 November 2010

Where should I start? The setting of this establishment was specially build by God, just short of heaven. All our desires where fulfilled by the absolute fantastic staff of Nolen and Shauna. Jacques the 6 star chef has once again pushed the standard of cuisine to the next level. Our car broke down on one of our day excursions, and Nolan on his day off came to fetch us. He was even prepared to cancel their off week to assist me in arriving safely at the first destination where somebody can assist us with our car. I want to thank you all for making this holiday so special and I am sure we will meet up in the near future.
