Yellowwood Forest Campsite

Description

Yellowwood Forest is a peaceful place surrounded by enormous trees and lush riverine vegetation; a birdwatcher's paradise offering a tranquil space for all, especially nature-loving campers. The Yellowwood Forest Campsite is situated in a beautiful garden on the bank of the Inchara River, approximately 1 km from Morgan Bay beach. The river is wonderful for the kids to explore and a short walk away is a dam for fishing, swimming and canoeing.

This rural setting offers tent sites and ablution facilities, all built from recycled and locally sourced materials. Limited electrical points are available. The rustic thatched bush camp is tucked away on the riverbank and sleeps two people. We also have a loft which sleeps two comfortably.

In season an outdoor pizza oven serves delicious wood-fired pizza and the Tree-Pot tearoom offers light snacks and refreshments. Our craft shop offers local, interesting art, crafts, gifts and clothing.

Park HomeX 1
Includes: Self-catering
There's no hiding the fact that the dwelling is a park home but it is surprisingly comfy and very neat inside. The house is situated in a quiet location with views into the forest, making it an ideal getaway for nature lovers and bird-watching enthusiasts. There are two-bedrooms each with a double bed and built in cupboards. The bathroom is tiny with a mini bath, a shower above it, and a toilet and wash hand basin. The lounge, dining area and kitchen are open-plan. There's a four plate gas stove and oven, a single sink, and a small gas fridge. There's a big empty grocery cupboard for all your supplies and the kitchen has everything I can imagine you might need. The dining area has a small four-seater table and side board while the carpeted lounge has three comfy chairs, a desk and side tables. There’s a sunny verandah off the front which is north facing and has sunning views of the forest. Here there are chairs and tables and a little portable braai. You will need to bring your own towels and linen. Pillows are provided as are dish towels. Morgan bay has a nice shop that has fresh bread and milk daily. Kei mouth 3 km's away has a bigger selection and the shops stock good quality meat. There are bottle stores in each town. The home is approximately 1 km from the beach- everyone walks but i find the hills a bit steep so plan on driving to the beach. The lagoon is at the mouth and is wonderful for canoeing unless we've had rain and the mouth is open in which case it’s a big mud flat. When you get here I’ll show you a wild/adventurous route to the lagoon from the bottom of the garden which you might enjoy- then you can canoe to the beach. The hotel hires out canoes, I don't have any. The home is 200m from Yellowwood and about 80m from the river. It is powered entirely by solar power - both water and lights - so please take that into consideration prior to booking.
