Description

umThombe Kei River Lodge is a secluded lodge situated on a 160-hectare private nature reserve along the banks of the Great Kei River in the Eastern Cape. The pulse of the river is felt in everything here; whether you are gliding along in kayaks, hiking to hidden pools, fishing for legendary cob, or simply watching the sunset turn the cliffs to gold as the crowned cranes fly home to roost.

The lodge offers accommodation in rustic thatched chalets accommodating four to six guests each. The chalets are fully equipped for self-catering and boast magnificent views of the Great Kei River.

The recently opened Bush Cabin is a rustic wooden cabin set in indigenous forest overlooking the river. The cabin contains one bedroom with a double bed and an open-plan room with two bunk beds and a cooking area. The front deck, which has wonderful views over the river, is enclosed and serves as a dining area. In addition, there is an outside toilet and shower, as well as a barbecue area. Linen is provided but guests are asked to supply their own towels.
