Description

Tanagra is a wine and guest farm close to McGregor and part of the Robertson Wine Route and Route 62, producing unique wines in a small boutique wine cellar and offering guest farm accommodation. 
Tanagra is situated in the McGregor valley, surrounded by the peaks of the Riviersonderend and Langeberg mountains and bordering the Little Karoo. It is the ideal place for the wine and nature lover seeking an authentic and peaceful countryside experience. It offers a farm experience on a wine farm at an up market level while keeping the natural farm character.
We offer 2 apartments and one cottage that are let either as self-catering or on a B&B basis.Each unit sleeps 2 persons/adults and has own private entrance and verandah/stoep with scenic views on the mountains. All units are tastefully furnished and have their own open fireplace. There is a pool with a braai area and sun/deck chairs in the garden (and private braai’s provided for every individual unit). For the more adventurous the majestic farm invites for a swim.

Character: Tanagra is a wine and guest farm centered around a magnificent old wild fig tree which dominates the place and gives it a unique character, together with the distinctive wines produced in the boutique wine cellar.

Location: The entrance to the farm is conveniently located at a tar road (no gravel road).

Great Outdoors: Tanagra directly adjoins the Vrolikheid Nature Reserve (direct access from farm). Anything from a gentle walk to a serious hike can be done starting from the farm. Vrolijkheid and McGregor also offer great mountain bike trails.

Honeymoon Romance: The Hill Cottage (available fom December 2009) is a romantic getaway, sitting alone on the top of a hill, overlooking the Tanagra vineyards with grand views into the McGregor Valley. Very private.

Outstanding Views: All units boast wonderful views on the mountains.

Relaxation: Tanagra is the ideal getaway for adults/couples, seeking a peaceful countryside experience. No radio or TV in rooms. No kids on premises.

The highlight is a spacious and sunny wooden deck providing scenic views on the mountains, the beautiful farm dam and the vineyards. Kingsize bed (2 mattresses). En-suite bathroom (toilet and shower). In contrast to the other units, the Loft Studio has only basic self-catering facilities (bar fridge, tea/coffee facilities, toaster, microwave, basic crockery and cutlery) and is furnished in a simpler style.

Lovely, tranquil setting and well-appointed chalets. Slept really well with exception of noise from nearby road. That being said, would definitely return.

Our little Hill Cottage was the best. We absolutely loved our time there. Many thanks to Anette and Robert for a super time and great wine and veggies fresh from the garden. The hospitality was fantastic. We are definitely planning on going back.

We enjoyed our stay and will return when it is a little cooler to enjoy the walks in the area. The accommodation is excellent - simple, practical, comfortable and of the best quality, (comfortable bed, quality bedclothes, quality appliances, choice of "braai" places, fire place for the winter) set in a beautiful position.
