Very enjoyable. Solitude food for the soul. Watchtower special. Nice to have cooked meals available, even if they were not of a particularly high standard. Staff helpful and friendly .Plenty of opportunity for long pleasant walks. Would have been better had there been more birds. We saw three. Game was also a bit sparse. We saw Eland, Impala, rabbits and warthogs. Perhaps we were just unlucky. There were no cavaties for birds and animals that use them, therefore a low population. Also ... more

Our visit to Sunset Ranch Game Lodge is one that we will treasure and will be engraved in our minds for the rest of our lives. We had never done anything like this as couple and it was definitely a great way for us to spend quality time together.
We did lots of walking and our hosts probably thought we were out of our minds but it was all part of the great outdoors experience.

Description
The ranch spans over 600 Hectares and is situated in the heart of the bushveld. Some of the wildlife to be seen include the elegant Giraffe, regal Eland, spunky Impala, pyjama-clad Zebra, inquisitive Ostrich and various bird species including the majestic African Fish Eagle. As Sunset Ranch is family orientated there are no dangerous species on the ranch allowing you and yours to have a fun filled and relaxed family getaway.
At Sunset Ranch, the unspoiled bushveld plays the perfect host to our comfortable accommodation, with all the modern conveniences needed for that memorable and relaxing getaway. Here you can find peace in the ultimate African experience, creating memories while exploring the bushveld with us on a game drive.
All of our facilities are fully equipped and primarily self-catering, however, catering services are available on request as we have a wonderful restaurant on the premises that can provide the most scrumptious meals. With the exception of the bush cottage all accommodation is within strolling distance from the main entertainment lapa.
The day's are not long enough at Sunset Ranch to fit in all the fun filled family activities. Sunset Ranch is a place where children are always welcome and we have loads of activities to keep them entertained, more than enough space to burn off that built up energy and plenty of fresh bushveld air to tire them out happily.
For the children's pleasure there are trampolines, a jungle gym, swings, swimming pool and canoeing. And then there's a pool table, table tennis and darts. Outdoor entertainment for all includes game drives, hiking, bird watching and fishing.

| For the more adventurous, back to nature couple, our bush cottage provides the ultimate getaway for the nature lover, situated 3 kilometers (just less than 2 miles) from the main camp. You can enjoy the peace and quiet of the Bushveld as it was meant to be. The bush camp has a look-out tower for you to enjoy the magnificent African sunrise or sunsets. The look-out tower is also a perfect place to do some bird spotting and game viewing.
The bush cottage comfortably sleeps 2 adults and is equipped with its own fully equipped kitchen with cutlery, crockery, 220l fridge/freezer as well as a gas stove/oven. So your cooking can be done either outside on the open flames or inside the gas stove. The bathroom consists of a bath/shower, toilette and a basin. There is tap water in the cottage, however in keeping with the "back to nature in the Bushveld" theme, there is no electricity at the bush cottage, it works with solar energy that provide lights for inside as well as for outside. In order that have warm water you need to make use of an old traditional manner, with fire in what is known as a “Donkey Geyser”. The geyser takes approx. 20 minutes for the water to heat up. All bed linen and towels are provided.

| The luxury chalet is a 4-6 sleeper unit. The main bedroom consists of one double bed and private toilette and the second room consists of four ¾ beds. | The Luxury Complex is comprised of three joined, yet separate chalets which can accommodate up to18 guests (6 in each chalet). Each chalet has three bedrooms sleeping 2 adults each and its own bathroom. The 3 luxury chalets share a massive fully equipped kitchen including stove, fridge, freezer, crockery, cutlery, glasses, microwave, pots and pans, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Each unit is fully equipped with bed linen (Must bring your own towels). DSTV is also available in each chalet
a Private pub area is available for the use of guests staying in our luxury complex. An exclusive braai (barbeque) area, enclosed by a beautiful water feature is there for your enjoyment, whether it be braaing meat, cooking traditional potjiekos or enjoying a bonfire with friends and family. Catering services are available on request and the units are fully serviced. This accommodation is perfect for those large family getaways.

| The Rustic chalet is an 8 sleeper cottage that has 4 bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have double beds while the other two bedrooms each have ¾ beds. The chalet has its own private enclosed boma with a lapa and braai facilities. This accommodation is a firm favorite among our guests as it is very affordable and allows for an intimate and peaceful memorable getaway. The chalet has a large fully equipped kitchen, its own bathroom that consists of a shower, toilette and a hand basin. All bed linen is provided (Must bring your own towels).

| Sunset Ranch has 4 water edge chalets namely: Eland, Gemsbok, Rooibok and Bosbok, each sleeping 2-4 people. The unit has one double bed and one sleeper couch which is ideally for kids. Each chalet has its own fully equipped kitchen, as well as its own bathroom that consists of a shower, toilette and a basin. The chalets are on the Sunset Ranch dam edge and are ideal for that intimate family getaway, where you can commune with nature while spending time with those close to you. These are also great for that fishing getaway as the water's edge is close enough to hear the fish's call, "come catch me".
Each chalet has its own braai (barbeque) facility. The chalet is also equipped with DSTV. The chalets are close enough to the main entertainment lapa, restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a game of pool, have a cold drink or a delicious meal. All bed linen is provided.
