We went with the purpose of bird-watching and this was well fulfilled - game is sparse, but of no concern in our case. The environment is eminently suited to bird viewing even in this very dry time and well cared for - very little evidence of alien invasion

The game viewing was fantastic, thanks to Dean. The setting was tranquil and the scenery out of this world.
All the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Thanks to all of you for making our stay so enjoyable.

We found it very relaxing and had enough to do even if the weather was not always optimal to sunbathe at the pool! The lodge is small which I prefer with a staff that has a subtle attentiveness which is well appreciated by travellers just looking to relax, enjoy the bush and have a little down to earth luxury.

A bit about this place
Sungulwane Hills Game Lodge is situated between Hluhluwe & Mkuze in the Natal bushveld.
This 1000ha Conservancy is home to diverse species of wildlife, including white rhino, buffalo, leopard and an incredible variety of birds.
Our chalets are all non-smoking & en-suite, with private entrances & patios, air conditioning and tea & coffee facilities.
Full linen, towels & basic toiletries are provided and rooms are serviced daily. We have four double and three twin rooms.
The main building has two comfortable lounge areas, a fireplace, dining room, bar, satellite television, a book-exchange, a tea & coffee buffet and patio overlooking a waterhole.
We have a big swimming pool and provide pool towels.
We serve choice cuisine and will gladly cater for special dietary requirements by prior arrangement.
Conservancy activities include game drives, night drives, nature walks or mountain bike trails. Other activities in the area can be arranged, and include boat cruises on St Lucia or Jozini Dam, guided open vehicle game drives in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi, tribal dancing at a Zulu village, tiger fishing, beauty treatments and a host of sea-based activities including deep-sea fishing & scuba diving.
Master or Visa cards are accepted and all extras will be added to your account, so you do not have to carry a lot of cash. A laundry service and limited fax & internet facilities are available at a minimal extra charge.
Due to the presence of dangerous game, we do not allow anyone to walk or drive around unaccompanied. No quad-bikes are allowed.
Children only qualify for discounted rates on reservation of the entire lodge.
