It's a relaxed family spot with no airs or graces. The whole feel of Spurwing is down to earth and relaxed. The dining room is open to the breeze, the pool is nice and big for the children, the bar area is generous and the location is well shaded. Spurwing is also very popular as a fishing base because it's close to the bream-rich coves of the former Sanyati forest.

We all love Kariba, who wouldn't. It's 280 kilometers of bream, tiger, drowned forests, crocs and hippos. It's harder, wilder, bigger, more visceral than almost any other man-made lake anywhere. It's fun, laid back, its family. Indeed there is still nothing like it on our doorstep.

Situated in the Matusadona National Park, Spurwing Island offers a range of different safaris, including scenic boat trips and game viewing on foot, by boat or Landrover. The park boasts a large population of wildlife and bird life, making it a photographer’s paradise. Bream and tiger fishing is also very rewarding, trips can be arranged or you can bring your own boat. The haunting cry of the fish eagle is heard throughout the day at Spurwing.
