Description

We offer comfortable self-catering duplex apartments on the beachfront and at the Kowie River Mouth in Port Alfred, Heart of the Sunshine Coast. These units have been awarded 3 Star from the Tourism Grading Council.

Our units accommodate from one - seven people, in two or three bedroom units or apartments. Ideal for family holidays, weekend getaways, and overnight stays. Sip sun downers on the patio while the surf crashes down in front of your unit.

There is good fishing off the piers, the river or from the beach only 30 meters away. Superb blue flag swimming beach and surfing beaches are at your front door. There is a beachfront restaurant; sports bar, ice cream cafe and nightclub close by. Port Alfred has most major shops and amenities, and a new shopping mall and private hospital. Please note that you must bring your own beach and bath towels or hire from us if you forget.

Location: Beachfront and River Mouth. All guests love the location - ideal for beach walks, or more active pursuits like fishing, surfing and swimming.

We currently have four three-bedroom units, units 33, 34 and 35 are three bedroom units with two bathrooms upstairs between the bedrooms and also a guest cloakroom downstairs in the larger kitchen, dining, and living area. We also have a new three bedroom, three bathroom unit all on one level. This unit is unit 82 and is positioned above the complex office at Settler Sands.

Settler Sands consists of approximately 36 self-contained beachfront apartments or units. The majority of these are two bedroom units, and we also have four three-bedroom units. Our two bedroom units have a bathroom most of them have a full bathroom upstairs between the bedrooms, and also a guest cloakroom downstairs in the open plan kitchen and living area. The main room has a double bed, built in cupboards, dressing table, balcony and sea or sea/river or just internal complex views. The second bedroom has a bunk bed and single bed/ or two single beds. A neat kitchen, with open plan dining and living areas is situated downstairs and some units have an enclosed courtyard with fresh water tank, an outside shower and wash-line. All units have braai/barbecue facilities. Note that we have a number of very new units which are of a better quality than certain of the older units. Generally the older units have the best views towards the sea though. Some units face the river, some face inwards, and some face the sea. Note linen is provided but kitchen, beach and bath towels are not provided.

We enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was a bit rundown and therefore it doesn't feel very clean. The carpets need a wash, and there was a urine smell in the upper part of the duplex. My daugter (adult) slept in the 2nd bedroom. The beds are meant for children and the mattresses are of very poor quality. There were 2 thin worn matresses on the bed.

Our stay at Settler Sands was more than wonderful - we cannot wait to go back. The accommodation was wonderful. The place was so neat it felt like a home away from home. This was really value for money and I would recommend this place to anyone.
