Hosts are extremely nice and very helpful. The neighborhood seemed pretty safe by Durban standards, and there is an area within walking distance with some restaurants (not much else within walking distance, though, and walking too far at night seemed iffy). Distance from the center was a reasonable cab. What I heard from other South Africans subsequently was that it was best to stay farther out in the suburbs by the beach--there was no immediate beach access here..

Roseland House is a real pleasure to stay at, The hosts Delia and Warren are very nice people, running a very comfortable and pleasant establishment.
Clean, tidy and giving a feeling of safety and confidence.
We were very happy with our stay.
A bit like Peanuts, more time there would be very nice.

Roseland House, built in gracious Edwardian times, is situated in a quiet area of Glenwood, high on Durban's Berea.
Our home has been lovingly adorned with many antiques from this period. All 10 en-suite double rooms are air-conditioned and tastefully furnished with your comfort in mind. Some rooms have their own private court yards and all have TV, hostess tray, safe and other small extras which make all the difference.
Each room has its own secured parking bay.
