Obiekwa Cottage

We had a lovely weekend at Obiekwa in the 35 degree plus heat of the Riebeek Valley, with the refreshing pool an obvious highlight. The cottage is uber-comfortable, simply but beautifully decorated with a country-style feel. Despite the heat, we never once sweltered in misery - the double-volume, airy and spacious bedroom and the ceiling fan kept things light and breezy. Another highlight was the stoep facing the pool, a great space to laze away an afternoon with a book with a magnificent view over the vineyards and to the mountains beyond. We were warmly welcomed by Lynne and Kent and left to our own devices thereafter - so although the cottage is relatively close to the main house, one can potter around with some privacy. Although we were lazy and ate in town most of the time, the cute little kitchen is very well-equipped and built-in braai on the stoep perfect for late-arvie braaing. Highly recommended for either a couple, or 2 couples on a weekend away together.

It is seldom a guesthouse exceeds expectations as Obiekwa did. The location, as well as the layout was wonderful. We enjoyed the separate entrance bedrooms to shared stope with views obverse the vineyards and towards the mountains. The beds were perfect and we appreciated all the attention to detail. The pool was a perfect feature in the hot little town and the colorful gardens enhanced the beauty if the place. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our night at Obiekwa. Room is lovely, pool great and hosts are warm and welcoming. Very good value and highly recommend.

We stayed here as a family with two small kids and it wasn't suitable to our needs. The two rooms are completely separate, as is the kitchen, which is on the outside patio. It would have been lovely for a couple - best for two couples that share a kitchen. The view is stunning and the friendly owners have done it up to high standards.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at Obiekwa Cottage. Rooms were spacious and luxurious. Fireplaces kept us warm at night. Waking up to a sunrise over the vineyards was a truly amazing treat! Definitely recommend Obiekwa Cottage!!
