Description

The Legendary Nottingham Road Hotel was built in the 1890's and is historically known as one of the oldest pub's in Kwa-Zulu Natal. This old style hotel has 14 en-suite rooms, both twins and doubles. Set in typically old English gardens, this hotel is located in the village of Nottingham Road which is in the heart of the Midlands Meander.

It is approximately one hour 30 minutes from Durban and four hours from Johannesburg. There is a restaurant on site serving a 'la carte and pub meals throughout the day and most of the night. Within close proximity to the hotel is the Gowrie Farm Golf Course which is a well designed and beautifully manicured 12 hole course. Loads of craft shopping, fly fishing, cheese / beer and wine tasting and well known country eateries all within five minutes of the hotel.

The new conference centre is under construction and will be ready in January 2010, boasting a 120 seater with modern facilities and comfort for all corporate needs. The hotel hosts many functions / events throughout the year. It is the most memorable stop for any visitor to the Midlands.

We had a really enjoyable overnight at the hotel. Our room was good, the bed superb and the dinner on Sunday evening was fabulous. Breakfast on Monday was exactly what we needed and the whole one-night stay will be a great memory for us.

It still has Old World charm, with 21st century finishes. It took us back 55 years. The train screaming through in the middle of the night added to the fun. Great crowd of locals in the pub, great grub. Service was excellent. You will definitely see us again. Have mentioned your hotel to all our friends. Thank you.

Very clean rooms and a very festive pub! Food was great! It was really great but Room 13 where we stayed had a VERY noisy "Generator/Extractor/???????" right next to it and unfortunately woke us up continuously!!!! Apart from that it was great to see that they are keeping up with the the "old" style hotel as far as furnishings are concerned.
